Eraserhead - David Lynch/10

Watch the Elephant Man, less lynch, more drama + adagio in strings

I rate my David Lynch movies based on the amount of David Lynch. So a David Lynch movie with less David Lynch would rate lower on my David Lynch movie list.

I'll take your recommendation into consideration though

Man I love Lynch's seriously "lynchian" films, Eraserhead and Lost Highway are incredible... but Elephant Man was a film where the writers and director combination really moulded something powerful. That and Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt are feckin top notch in this film.

So there's less of the nightmarish plot devices and imaginings thats typical of Lynch, but it does have a great visual style, and some really strong suspense and drama.

The man learned a lot from making this film, but I think he learned more from making Dune :/ from his mistakes.

I couldn't watch Elephant Man because it mad me too sad :(

just re watched 'the celebration' in a film class. not quite as good as i remembered it being but wow is the editing great. seems like thomas vinterberg got known for this then dropped off the map (my map anyway). actually nm, i remember 'dear wendy' being pretty decent.

the ending can make even the beardiest of men cry.

the scene when hopkins drops a tear after first seeing him is so good.

i saw Aguirre: wrath of god last night in the cinema. it looked great. sounded great (except the dubbing). and kinski was incredibly watchable. need more time before i can give any kind of opinion on the film though

The American - Very unique. Obvious Anton Corbijn flick, absolutely gorgeous shots but somewhat slow tempo. Still enjoyed it.

Have you seen The Limits of Control? It felt very similar, worth checking out for the amazing cinematography (and the soundtrack is pretty good).

yeah cool movie, the limits of control, pretty lynchiest

enter the void - lame\long\boring story\cool visuals\10

couldn't really feel it, didn't care too much for the principal character neither for his sister...

picked up roeg's the man who fell to earth. one of my favorite films, even though david bowie playing an androgynous alien really isn't a stretch at all. as for roeg, i've only seen man who fell to earth, walkabout, and don't look now, but i like all three of em a lot. i guess most of the other stuff he's done is garbage, though.

wtf movie

yeah, enter the void... how do you take all these fun and exciting ingredients - Tokyo, drugs, drug dealing, strippers - put them together with some really fantastic and original camera-work and visual effects, and end up with an incredibly dull movie?

...by having zero interesting characters and virtually no storyline, apparently.

Guest Blanket Fort Collapse

Virtually no storyline? The two worst things about the movie the pacing could have been ramped up a bit and the main character needed a much better actor. The rest of the acting wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Those are the biggest fuck ups about the flick. The storyline was adequate.

Guest Adjective

Enter The Void was one of the most powerful experiences i've ever had with a movie, i completely surrendered to it, and forgot about my self and company. the acting never entered my mind because i was able to get so immersed. sorry to hear you guys didn't have a similar worthwhile experience

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - 10/10 , second best movie of the series. Cinematographic was superb and the scene with the Nagini at Godric's Hollow was well done.

I HOPE THIS MATCH NEVER ENDS - 245017.jpg

Funny Games is messed up

Just watched Lock Up, a Stallone pirson movie.. 7.5/10 - pretty enjoyable, one of my favourite Stallone movies besides Cliffhanger
