im starting to get a bit worried now.. still leading 3-2 lost to a shut-out 3-0 last night at the igloo :S

we must win tomorrow. though i think getting past the first round will be the hardest then after that the pens will cruise to a nice Stanley cup victory

Beat the Devils in game 7, 4-3. 2 goals in the last 5 minutes. Amazing. I swear Cam Ward is such a badass goalie.

I can't believe the hurricanes shut out the devils in the previous game. In reg season, sure, but in playoffs, i don't like nj, but i at least respect em to admit when they play good, but damn i can't believe that. This has been such a flip flop. One team plays awesome, other sucks embarrassingly, then the next game they switch winning/sucking teams. Crazy.

the scary thing there is that a flip flopping team against a team that consistently plays good hockey is no contest. i was cheering for the canes in their last series, but we'll see where it goes.

i am slightly surprised at the canes beating the devils. kudos to them. wish i hadn't been so tired so i could have watched it. caps deservedly advanced, the weak offense of the rangers caught up with them.

2nd round match-ups

EAST:

BOSTON - CAROLINA

PITTSBURGH - WASHINGTON

WEST:

DETROIT - ANAHEIM

VANCOUVER - CHICAGO

it feels to me that boston will fare well against the canes. they've just had a steady (post)season of play. we'll see if it's an underdog story.

anaheim will have to play their feathers off to beat the wings, but the wings haven't been a completely solid team this season.. regardless, they proved their prowess in the post season with a sweep.

vancouver and chicago will be tight. i'll say vancouver given their exemplary play this last while and the fact that khabibulin just can't do well against the nucks. i'm excited for this series and not just because i'm a nucks fan.

the penguin/capitals series is kinda new to me. i'm rooting pens but we'll see who's hungrier.

the nucks-hawks series should be a doozy. got to cheer for my hawks. i am well impressed by the youngest team in the league, who everyone thought could not handle the experienced and physical flames. hopefully the long break for the nucks will work against them, i hope it will take some time to get their legs and timing working.

as for the other matchups, i think the ducks actually could have a chance against the wangs, they're a tough defensive team with some very skilled players and if hiller is lights out amazing then they could win it. the caps and pens matchup probably made bettman cream his pants, now he and the league can pimp the shit out of the ovechkin vs. crosby "rivalry". i hope ovechkin dominates as i can't stand crosby, too bad malkin is on the pens, cuz i think he's better than crosby.

I can't believe how sloppy and weak they are playing in game one right now. It's 4-1 Bruin,s in the 3rd. I see absolutely no aggression from the Canes. Wtf. They better just be testing the bruins weaknesses. I'd say more like displaying theirs. They best get things back together.

DETROIT - Anaheim Ducks forward Mike Brown was ejected from Game 1 against the Detroit Red Wings for a hit that bloodied Jiri Hudler.

Hudler passed the puck and was defenseless when Brown hit him, appearing to land an elbow to the head during the first period on Friday night.

The game was delayed briefly while Hudler was helped off the ice and blood was scraped off it. A towel was pressed against a big cut above Hudler's left eye. Hudler returned to the game in the second period.

Brown was given a major penalty for interference, leading to Detroit's tying goal. He also earned a game misconduct that ended his night.

That's something that's always made little sense to me. If there's blood it's a big deal, but a lot of the worst injuries don't even come close to involving blood. Especially contusions and such. They take a heck of a lot longer to heal than most surface wounds. BUt, what can ya do.

There was a weird call on the canes goal where there was a delay and i didn't understand. I saw it go in, there was no confusion from me, but there seemed to be a discussion as to whether they were going to get the goal or not and the penalty that incurred was at least 3 seconds after it was obviously in the net. NHL is teh confusion.

I didn't see the ducks game, just read about it during the 3rd of canes vs bruins. But i don't doubt ignored calls. I'd hate to be a NHL ref tho. They are like some of the most disrespected refs in sports as far as i have seen.

the hawks got 5 goals past the "unbeatable" luongo and tied the series going to back to chicago. excellent. i dunno what happened to the nucks in the second period but the hawks simply owned them 5 on 5. what a team this is, they simply refuse to give up.

and the caps barely won the pens. big credit goes to varlamov, he was spectacular.

yeah that game was a complete disgrace, i don't know what the fuck they were doing.

but you have to admit there was some seriously shitty officiating.
