Just ordered the 12" from Norman Records, who are getting more stock in on Friday, if anyone missed out (like me).

How do you order from there? I don't see anything on the page (American, sorry)

er, I just checked again, and now it's saying sold out...

but I ordered mine, and got an email from them saying it would be shipped as soon as it arrives...

which means I probably got the last copy.

...sorry.

still, check back on friday just in case

absolutely 100% believable that his shit is made all in a wav editor. i'm no burial obviously but i work in goldwave almost exclusively (the only other thing i use is soundforge for some effects). from my personal experience it is not in the LEAST far fetched to think that burial has cut and pasted all his music in a wav editor.

Concur. I'm a Cool Edit 2000 man myself, but yeah. Totally possible.

can i please hear Beak and ascdi music made entirely from beginning to end on a stereo (non multitrack) wave editor? I am extremely curious. and i promise i will not be a cynic and take how you claim the track was made as the truth

I love Cooledit but its hard for me to imagine never switching over to it's multitrack mode to finish up the track instead of using only mix-pasting.

of course you can...

Amoral Mayor Earwig

this ep was made entirely in the trial version of goldwave. "amoral mayor earwig" might be a good track to start with from that... though i feel "i saw two of me" was my most accomplished of that ep technically speaking. but any of them fit your criteria, as do any songs from the following EPs, which rely more increasingly on some of sound forge's mastering effects (i.e. wavehammer), but are built completely in stereo channel goldwave. (oh i registered my version a while back so i'm legit now... best 40 bucks i've ever spent).

its crazy how sequenced your beats sound when they have been meticulously spliced together using a wave editor. It would be fun just to see a video of you making one of these tracks in time lapse photography i'd imagine it would take you hours just to put together one drum loop.

lol... pretty much why i dont even bother anymore

i have to ask, do you slight autism or have obsessive compulsive tendencies? and i ask this as a compliment, i have such a short attention span that i would probably give up after making one drum loop like this.

i tend to have short attention span with evertyhing in life but if i do get a good sounding groove going i get a bit manic about it and work for hours on end on it. i think my problem nowadays is i'm bored with the way everything i make sounds so i never get that manic burst where i can work a weekend straight on something.

i dont think it is as time consuming as you might be imagining though... after doing it for a while you start getting really fast and you start learning tricks and shortcuts to speed things up. i have plenty of tricks.

the hardest part is the insane number of times you have to listen to a track with this method... you honestly have no idea what it sounds like by the time you're done. and giving the track its first open-air listen (i mix on my headphones) is always crushing, i get super depressed at how shitty it sounds to me.

so maybe a bit manic-depressive yeah

When I started making music it was all very loop based and done in a wav editor, a crappy free thing that came with my computer at the time. Really basic, just copy and pasting basically. It's not hard, it just takes longer. When I started using Fruityloops, there were some things that really annoyed me about using a step sequencer, it's much easier and more fun to do more "organic" stuff in a wav editor. Chopping up breaks like drill & bass style is a nightmare in a step sequencer but is really fun and much easier in a wav editor.

B: Because I don’t have a sequencer I can’t really mess around. I can’t noodle, at all. I got to shove it together and vibe off it. I make the tune, fucking quick. Not a single tune on my album took more than a few days to make. They come together real quick and then I spend some time on the details so they’re alright to listen to.

M: So once a tune has been started how do you go back and change it?

B: I can’t. I can only affect it. I have to fade bits out or fade it if I don’t like it or replace it and hope it’s in time. It’s budget. It’s not perfect.

(Bob Wilson) Sorry... you created that reality tunnel, you can find your way out... You built the Trap... you know the design better than anyone...sagatsfz3stage.jpg

Wolf Cub is the happy-go-lucky song with the usual Four Tet sounds, and Moth is the one w/the detuned melody. They both have Burial-y drums though, but I guess Wolf Cub's is more prevalent.
