Didn't they say they were trying to channel each others' thoughts and feelings or something while doing it? That already sounds like it was taking the piss.

that's right i forgot, that i am being an experimental music fan should listen with all my blinds closed while wearing a turtleneck drinking turkish coffee sitting on my futon

That's close to how I do it. No joke. It's just that it's not, you know, loud music. It's great for headphones.:)

just run it through a massive compressor and crank the volume!

I thought the same, sounds like they really intended that type of hissing on it. But in my ears it has a slightly Haswell-related quality to the tracks. When I remember right, in one track the hissing got also manipulated very slightly.
