WHY CAN'T I FUCKING MAKE MUSIC.

I want to do it, I really want to do it, I will sit and open FL and start fucking about, and then about 10 minutes in I will give up. I honestly can't be asked, I want to but I can't be bothered. I've had this discussion a few times with watmmers, and I honestly just cannot get motivated to do it, even though I want to. What the fuck is that about?

I think that's part of the problem, if I already knew how to do everything I'd actually be sitting making music all night long.

I dunno if you have a keyboard or not. But one thing that can really help is:

Before you start worrying about a beat and all the neat sounding stuff. Fiddle around for a few seconds, come up with a nice little melody, change it up a little, and then just hit record and start playing. Keep the bits you like, and loop them into a song format with some kind of structure. Even if you think "this sounds crap I'm not very good" just play something, anything. You can change it all later, but you'll likely find yourself fond of the original "crap" stuff.

Once you've got that throw a bass line, some drums, and some little lead lines into it and a teeny tiny bit of compression on the whole mix and you're solid.

Ok, so I need a keyboard, I think that's already made clear further back in the thread actually, I haven't got one. I'd actually made some stuff I really enjoyed months and months ago, and I'd uploaded to my email to free up hard drive space, at which point my email was promptly hacked and I lost the fucking lot, since then I lost all motivation and I don't have anything at all now. So I need to get on it. Thanks AW I will send what I do for you to have a listen, which is exactly what I was supposed to do last time but I was being selfish and wanted to keep it til I was happy, if I'd sent it to someone I wouldn't have lost it all when I was hacked lol. Lesson in pride to be learned there.

You should make fake tracks in the style of all the artists that made fake tuss tracks.

er, it doesn't sound like you actually like the process of music making very much mate...I wouldn't worry about it - I hate painting in watercolour for example - I'd love to be good at it, but I can't really be fucked. exactly the same thing with you... if you don't like it - don't do it!

I think you're probably right mate, but I'll have another crack, if I really can't be fucked tomorrow night then I won't bother continuing trying to do something I don't appear to find appealing.
