Feel like I'm looking in on a conversation that would make more sense except important details have been overstepped. :cerious:

Warming up more and more to this as time goes by (ie: The AE Effect™). Was def feeling very ambivalent towards it upon release.

I chucked it on this morning at work (I'm here alone) and realised it's now 6 years old, which seems mental.

Then I checked discogs and saw it turned 6 eleven days ago. So Happy belated Birthday Oversteps.

happy birth day oversteps, probably my favorite AE album

my space odysee while being injected by an alien drug, just a perfect album

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

Yeah it's a fuxking landmark really. Incredible. Nothing sound like it at all.

A Rob Brown's album.

I have also thought of it in those terms, good to know i'm not alone

that should have been asked about in AAA imo.

also been listening to the album a lot these days

someone sort of asked something like:

"are there any tracks or albums that are just one of you? like - 'hey you write this one and i'll write the next one' if not would ever consider doing that?"

answer was something like:

"if there was we wouldn't tell but who's to say we haven't done that already"

i skip "known(1)" a lot

i do't like that i do but.. its just so damn grating

I have a much bigger problem with "see on see". Those piercing highs and never-ending reverb clashing.

"known(1)" is bearable although harsh at times.

In a right mood, I listen to the whole album without problems though.

I just had a look and when asked if any of the tracks are solo sean said:

"yeah tons of our tracks are solo tracks, usually trying to one up each other

about 1/3 of it is non-solo, as a really approximate guess

i dunno we just compete a lot, that seems to work for us, ymmv of course"

They are definitely both involved in Oversteps but I can imagine Rob wanted these melodic compositions to happen while Sean saw it as an interesting opportunity to try something new. I might be totally wrong though.

The idea of assigning, generally, specific tendencies (a melodic tension for Rob, and a more "abstract" one for Sean) derived from specific facts or is it a mere intuition, based on a "Lombroso" study of their physiognomy?

I've actually been meaning to start a thread on here for ages about who does what in Ae (if we know, which I don't think we do!).

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

But it'd be fun to guess!
