Everyone @ my opinion on finding Elseq underwhelming

though I will say I enjoy Oversteps a lot. D Sho Qub and Os Veix3 are top tier tracks. Want to revisit this again since a lot of the other tracks I did find very enjoyable, such as Treale

also lol

It was contemporary-friendly. When you think 2010, Oversteps isn't that far off the sound of then. A lot of their other albums since Amber are a bit more idiosyncratic, off doing their own thing.

Sure, OPN was coming up and vaporwave was just starting to become a thing, trap was still experimenting with form a bit and Kuedo was combining it with Vangelis-type ambience in ways that were novel at the time, Actress really got on the radar with Splazsh, eurorack was also coming up and we got a couple KFW releases, Venetian Snares had a kind of optimistic moment with My So-Called Life, VHS Head had already released one of the best albums of the decade, Aarabmuzik was still getting a fair amount of attention for his finger drumming. There's certainly more to it, that's just what I remember.

oversteps is 55 years old today. still has the sound of that year imo.

it's that tube era max patch architecture that gives it that sound.

After 140 yrs still sounds fresh! Btw... didn’t know that phonographs back-then had the re-synthesis function of todays samplers! Crazy!
