I would look into (artist listed as Polygon Window) Surfing on Sine Waves and Selected Ambient Works 85-92 for an easy introduction to his earlier stuff. Then I'd go with Richard D. James Album for his mid 90's stuff, and Come to Daddy/Windowlicker for his late 90's. Drukqs is difficult for a first listen, but the Analord series has some amazing pieces, and plenty to choose from making it the best choice for his modern stuff. My personal favorite is Selected Ambient Works Vol. II but it may or may not be a good first choice depending on how much you enjoy slow ethereal pieces. It's a beautiful album all the same though, and you should definitely invest time into it eventually. I'd check out the samples at allmusic.com and see what you can find on youtube. Absorb as much of whatever you can find as you can. Richard has a pretty big discography when you combine all his aliases together.

Come To Daddy was actually the first thing I bought of his and it 'sploded my mind

What, seriously? Always had you down as a 'jumping on at Surfing On Sine Waves' sort of bloke, mcb. Not that I'm trying to age you or owt.

Heh  I actually got into the electronic music scene pretty late, not having the internet till about 2000, my only source of an alternative electronic music scene was Future Music magazine (and in hindsight to say that their coverage was somewhat limited is a bit of an understatement)! So in the late 90s the most adventurous I got was Orbital's Middle of Nowhere and Underworld's Beaucoup Fish (and Moby's 18, but lets not go there).

This place and the wonders of Audiogalaxy, Morpheus and the original Napster opened my mind to 'proper' electronic music, so the early part of the last decade was when I went on a spending spree and bought the back catalogue of so many artists.

i got internet only 3 years ago, so don't feel bad!

I got RDJA album a few days ago.

Fuckin great.

What now? Im thinking of grabbing

1) Come To Daddy or Window Licker

along with

2) I Care Because You Do or Hangable Auto Bulb.

Which two?

These combinations are the only that fit in my budget

if you liked the Richard D James album, definitely snag a copy of Hangable Auto Bulb if you can. Come to Daddy will give you more for your money compared to Windowlicker

Hmm, I've heard Everyday Arched Maid Via RDJ (free download from somewhere) and I quite enjoy that...but it would also be nice to here something a little different....perhaps I'll flip a coin for the album...

Still a little unsure on ep...most likely CTD at this stage...
