You can't compare the hip hop beat of stamina to anything on Analord. It's just in 4/4. Mangle 11 however, id heavy as fuck. Clean is not a word I'd use to describe it at all.

That, and: Last Step stuff may be rather bad, but Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms and Rossz Csesietaenüstltlteezetet are two very good records (Songs about my Cats is good as well; My Downfall is pleasing, not great though).

He's GOT his style, not just copied. You can tell a VS very easily from an Aphex; which is true for poor creatures like Flashbulb as well but only because he copies so dilettantishly (yeah, dilettantishly!!)!

To me, Aphex & the other Warp guys are like an elaborate stage show full of huge special effects that comes to town once a year. Venetian Snares is like the guy in the alley outside the theatre doing card tricks. I don't think of one as being better or worse than the other, just that they each have a completely different vibe.

Snares lands himself plenty of tour dates, which lets him make an easy living out of music. Who wouldn't want that.

When you're in the mood for the snares, there's nothing better. His melodies and synthwork may not be on par with Aphex, but he sure as hell knows his craft. Can't wait for the new album!

To me, VSnares is more suited to loud speakers at a venue and Aphex is better for headphones at home. Just the impression I get.

tbh the only snares stuff I've heard that sounded similar to afx was some of the tracks on WITBOAS

Aphex likes Snares, and Snares likes Aphex.

And I like both of them.

What compels people to compare artists? I could understand when its a matter of a direct ripoff of someone that has a very distinct sound (BoC, for instance), but these guys make all kinds of electronic music and both do it in their own unique way, and they're both quality.

I'll skip explaining my reasoning and go ahead and say that this thread is born out of nothing more than someone that wants new Aphex material. I do too, buddy. We all do.

At least Aaron puts out a new record at least once a year.

obviously snares is heavily influenced by afx but sure i also read somewhere that aphex was influenced by greg hates car culture before making drukqs anyhow who really gives a fuck!
