Right click water spring block with an empty bucket to pick up water. Right click with a full bucket to dump contents. Left click with bucket to hit something with bucket,(left click wont pick up water but will break down blocks).

water and lava don't have to be from the source block, they just have to be not actively flowing. stagnant water and lave become source blocks in the bucket.

any chileans stuck in mines?

Stagnant water is a spring block.

You can also make an infinite spring with a 2X2 hole in the ground.

I gave in and bought the thing. so far i've wasted quite a few hours having no real fun at all lol

ok skinning is easy but this has advanced lighting and luminosity and HOLY FUCKBALLS

I'm not sure it's "too big", but it is voxel based. I've never seen a great looking voxel based game...

It really isn't that hard guys to make the game look great with High Res Textures, HDR, Volumetric Lighting, Bump maping etc... It just needs people to make the textures and people to code the game in an appropriate engine. This obviously should be the ultimate goal of the game. To play like it does and look as good as possible.

I think it would make for the ultimate game at that point. Maybe throw in the option to add details if you like or just build the standard way.

well, I'm not sure it's so easy. There's a reason why destructible environments have been so hard to implement in gorgeous looking AAA FPS titles. I'm pretty sure it would be very hard to make a Minecraft run in Unreal - at the very least you'd have to cut back on the "infinite world" aspect.

I think part of minecraft's charm is that it looks retro and the engine has such a small footprint. It makes it more addictive; I can just leave it on my desktop when the mood strikes. Very much like a social game/facebook game in a lot of respects. And very easy for beginners to pick up.

If he used this we wouldn't have any issues what so ever. I'd hope he would adopt this as his main engine. Its called Unlimited Detail Technology. However, I'm sure there are other normal game engines like the ones being used above such as the Sauerbraten which as shown in the pictures works just fine.

i think what the game really needs is some sort of purpose. If you aren't that keen on building stuff, there really isn't much incentive to play it. I still think it would be cool if you mined stuff in order to buy certain things. e.g. trade 300 iron bars for cash to buy a cool weapon. Perhaps buying stronger weapons is essential to kill(new) stronger enemies

You obviously miss the potential of the engine. The guy made the vids to demonstrate it, he wasn't a graphics artist so they don't look good and the engine isn't fully complete yet.

Point is UNLIMITED DETAIL! Instead of polygons we now have points in the game like atoms that make up our world. With these points we can have objects look as realistic as possible. If he threw some high res textures on those points you'd have your cock out and in your mouth.

Its like skipping to DX15. It already has better tessellation than DX11 could offer with out the need for a dx11 card priced at $300-$1000
