Yea, when I started, I played with a recipe guide in front of me (the wiki). When I died a bunch of times trying to build a house, I looked up a couple of guides.

And then it got addictive.

The fun part for me early on was putting random things in the crafting box trying to figure out what could be made. I didn't even know about diamonds for a long time. And actually I think the achievements in this game already act as a soft "guide" by showing you the basic progression of things.

Oh yea, I did that too. I think when I couldn't figure out how to make a door I caved in and used the wiki (I got tired of using two gravel blocks to block off an entrance). Figuring out some of the recipes on my own was really rewarding though. Especially all of the tools.

Yeah I kind of found loads of survive your first day guides but by about 10 days I was starting to feel like I'm missing something. I mean I made a bed and put it by a wall and got murked through the night because I didn't know there was a glitch with that. I'm not sure if figuring out how to make stuff by trial and error is really tempting me. I'm not really sure what I'm trying to do but I seem to be hollowing out a mountian for some reason.

Whats the deal with multiplayer, have you made some sort of watmm world?

it's not a glitch. your bed needs to be in a well-lit area and not on mud, sand, or gravel

however we have a cow problem at present which is making it lag to shit.

I read from your link that you can't place a bed directly next to a wall if there are assholes outside because they accidentally leak through the wall if you sleep. you can't do it on mud either? these are the sort of gay rules that I wouldn't figure out myself and would make me give up.

co-ordinating sleeping on multiplayer is hard when there's more than three people on anyway, because everyone has to sleep to make it day.

dont make stuff by trial and error thats lame. the building crafting stuff of minecraft is a pretty basic system if u learn it, its like common sense is what makes thing, u just think of what kind of shape they would be in 9 block grids. its easy but read the crafting wikipedia for starters. its not confusing u just keep it on ur bookmarks until u need it http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crafting

I passionately hate and love Maximus all at once.

The PDF should be linked to more, although it's a little out-dated now since the livestock updates.

The pdf was a bit gay if I'm honest, but it is useful. I see what you mean but I just found it a bit childish that it was written as if someone with stereotype fantasy genre speech wrote it on a bit of parchment.

In multiplayer you just do things "for some reason" while being social. Strangely addictive.

Yea, that was kind of lame. Justifying death and all of that in a video game was a bit much. But it was an easier read than the 10 minute long tutorials.

u guys need to start realising the severity of the cow thing, i'm not sure there is an actual fix to it without going back to an old save. which means everything you did in the nether going D:

great idea except you cant go near the cows due to lag, i mean lag enough to lose connection. That's why I'm worried about it. Obviously I wouldn't see it as a problem if i could walk in and make netherrack bbq's.

Have there been more reports of the cow bug? As in people figuring out how it's happening?

If we roll back it would be cool if we knew how to prevent it.
