I found this cave that looked promising, but didn't want to light it up so didn't go looking for an abandoned mine

yep, just by that little patch of sand but what you've found is another entrance to it, i think.

Hey Pete, I rigged everything up and it seems to be flushing out the mobs (almost) as quickly as they come. To make it better we'll need to raise the water level just a tiny bit at the end, but it's such a fucking pain stopping the mobs I wouldn't even worry about it. Piston drop is working

i would log on more at work but i can't think of anything to do. i end up just wandering around in peoples buildings and running out of food then dying somehow

Short list of features for 1.1 update from Mojang's website:

Ok, the raid is set for Thur 19th Jan, 20:00 GMT, 15:00 EST.

From Murveton head out on the 'Forest of the Mundane' rail, the cave is a bit past the log cabin, as shown on the flyer.

Please wait for everyone to assemble before entering the cave so that we can all maraud in one big marauding mob

Once we start exploring though, it might make sense to split into smaller groups

Bring tools, weapons, torches, food, and maybe a bed to reset spawn point.

If you're there early, maybe build a base of operations near the cave so that everyone has somewhere to put their beds.
