i've thought about this - a monorail that basically had stops at the edge of the town would be cool. you could put it mostly underground with windows to the surface overhead like the town portion of my forest rail.

allow me to elaborate. There would be a circuit board thing at the start/main stop of the rail, with buttons triggering which stop you want to get to, using pistons, redstone, and note blocks at the stops. because I'm annoying like that

good luck with getting redstone accurately triggering pistons outside the active chunk
