yeah it's right in the centre. I had an idea to not build houses or castles or anything.. just weird structures popping through the landscape.

I've been trying my luck at a hardcore map. I'm gonna try kill a dragon without dying at all. Already failed twice and my home was fucking sweet in the second attempt. (accidentally built it 20 blocks away from a stronghold)

 

both times I died in the nether, lava the 1st and blaze the 2nd time.

It is quite fun and challenging. Although if i die again I'll probably admit defeat.

HardcoreSMP plan:

HardcoreSMP will reset to a new world sometime over the next 12 hours, and then it will be very hard to log onto because everyone will be trying to log on.

But if you do get on, lets make a WATMM base. We can set the co-ords now, and then just build it there whatever is there.

Instructions for finding (or starting) HardcoreSMP WATMM base

• Head to these co-ords:
  

• Exactly those co-ords. If its the ocean then dive to the ocean floor.
  
• Dig 5 bricks down, and then re-fill 3 of the bricks above you to cover the hole
  
• You should now be in a small room with a sign saying 'afx rules' and some passageways leading down
  
• If you're not in such a room, then build it, and put a sign saying 'afx rules'
  
• You are now in the WATMM base
  
• If you see someone else in there, you need to know whether they are a WATMMer or a random person.
  
• Watmmers shall identify each other by doing a Secret Hand Gesture at each other
  
• The Secret Hand Gesture is

When you die on that server you are banned for a long time until the server does a ban-list reset. Guessing the idea is to team up with our wattam bros and go IDM all over the server until nobody is left but us.

And then craft a giant AFX sign like on the old server.

I don't know what is at the co-ords yet because the new map has not been revealed yet. But I've chosen co-ords anyway, what the hell.

I'll cheer from the sidelines btw. My playing availability is really limited and random.

thanks for the pm. I'm wondering what happens if I play right now and get killed on the actual map ? will I have to wait for one week to join you on the new map or the banlist is going to reset as well ?

On HardcoreSMP Bans get reset on the 1st of the month, and the world resets every 3 months. They reckon its more fun that way because everyone comes to life at the same time and it gets really hectic. So yeah it would be safe for you to go and play now, even if you die. It might be pretty crazy right now because its 'the end of the world' and everyone will be reckless.

There are other hardcore servers like 'Amish Paradise' that do it differently - dieing there leads to a fixed ban of 7 days.

ok great thanks for the info and see you soon on the new SMP server. That thing with the secrets coords, digging 5 blocks down etc seems exciting

is there spawn protection on that server? and if so, how far does it extend?

As a new player you get 20 mins PvP protection. There is a spawn area extending about 200 or 300 out from spawn that cannot be built in. and maybe its also a safe area, not sure.

Yeah it's a safe area. 200x200 I think. There is also an arena that is partly safe and a little safe zone in the nether.

Good advice. And usually the only source of food is wheat that you grow yourself (underground), so grab yourself some seeds by harvesting long grass if you pass any.
