Imagine a server where there would be organized factions in war, with economy and stuff, and where all would be controlled by players. And more exclusive loot. I hate to say it but Minecraft seems to have turned itself into a game that will need occasional content updates to keep people interested. As I said, there's already a mod that does that, Cubic Chunks. sure. but think about this sort of thing being proper legit game content. same way the nice lighting engine did. combine that with a proper mod API and you'd see some incredible mods.
