Nope. My wife wanted to spend some of her student loan on getting me an iPad for Xmas and I told her to wait cause I knew that the 2nd gen one would be out in early 2011.

i bet joyrex bought the ipad for watmm purposes (site test on popular apple mobile device) so its ok to use the donated $$$$ anyway so stop whinging

i thought they stated there would be no retina display.. all i understand that you are really getting with the newer ipad is a front facing camera?

My wife has an HP tablet like that. It sucks balls. You can't just throw the windows OS onto a tablet and expect great results, as the way you interact with a tablet is very different from how you interact with a laptop/desktop.

Also watmm doesn't need an app. it needs a good mobile version. This idea of apps for everything is ridiculous. Same with magazines on the web. Just publish with a mobile browser version, and voila.

totally agree. The ipad is not about adding a touchscreen to some laptop while removing the keyboard.

I use tapatalk for watmm on the iphone it works quite well even so links are currently not working as they are linked as the reduced ones you see on screen (seems to be some kind of bug). on the ipad safari will do as the screen is big enough

I tried tapatalk on my iPod touch. It was alright, but honestly the mobile skin for watmm was very similar. I guess tapatalk makes sense cause you can use it for a bunch of forums based on the IPBoard code. Although after WATMM, what other forums are worth visiting? :)

I started using it while the normal mobile skin was not working properly. its better on pictures while its not showing youtube links. The mobile skin supports youtube most of the time. Still its very well supported compared to shit like phpbb and other forum software

Actually using a free browser called Terra that has fullscreen mode and tabs (the Safari browser on the iPad is like on the iPhone/Touch where pages are stored on another screen)

I thought about that, but I got this for only 429.00 with free shipping from Apple (it's a refurbished one, where they take the innards, QA check them, and bung them into a brand new shell with a new battery). I can always give my son/daughter this one and get the new one (finances permitting).

LOL, no - like I said, I got a really good Christmas bonus (they changed the bonus from being a straight two weeks pay to a percentage-and performance-based bonus. Guess I did good this year.

Tapatalk is best for small screens - the official IPB app from the app store is better than it.

Im pretty sure those "5 new features" are still rumors. Can't find where but I could have sworn they stated they would not be using the retina display technology, rather oled or something like that. Not too impressive I suppose. Other thing im wondering is why the usb port? ios is not the same as OSX so it seems apple will have some crippled uses for the usb that won't be very attractive to many. I wonder if you'd even be able to open a flash drive and save files to it? Something tells me steve jobbs would be offended at that and make the usb do nothing significant
