the dual core A5 CPU is extremely nice, some real OSX style apps will make an appearance now.

I don't get the accelerometer as a measure of midi-controlling increments... how can it do that?

who would have thought.. i was almost sur it would be an incremental, rather disappointing upgrade.. but now DO WANT

OK i was almost like "huh? wtf?", then i was like "oh, it's sarcasm" but now i'm not sure. so *facepalm*/lol in any case.

anyway that cover thing is really clever, this is the kind of thing that makes apple cool.

ZOMG! Lazerz pew pew pew!!!!11!!1!!!!1!oneone!shift+one!~!!!

when you plot out a graph from accelerometer data you get peaks just like a seismograph.

So basically the harder you press, the bigger the "quake" registered. But how can it know when it's on a surface versus in your hands?

What are programmers waiting before giving us this on their apps? Almost all music apps sucks they have only on/off triggers.

Hmmm... : :fail:

looks pretty awesome. probably won't have enough money for one, until the ipad 3 comes out.

ipad1 is good enough for me! I just hope garage band works on the ipad1.

Nice that in iOS4.3 you can do free tethering! (only with iphone 4 though).

oh, and sharing video and audio via wifi is much appreciated

first you use a high pass filter to get rid of lower frequency accelerations. then you need to come up with some logic to override accidental velocity recognition when the device moves around too much. in fact, this got me interested and i'm just now playing around with it:

i can't believe it's not in every odd drum-pad app?

Wow exactly what I was hoping the ipad (or iphone) could become. It's like a giant Kaos Pad waiting for the good apps, or transform it into a midi-controller with infinite combinations of pads/notes/knobs/faders/whatever you want

They won't put in a dualcore CPU or a big GFX chip - it's not a laptop, it's not designed to replace one.

Well, I tried one of these in the store today. Felt significantly more usable, thanks to the faster speeds. Browsing was particularly better. I was actually going to buy one, just to try making some tracks in the new garage band, but they were sold out...

im incredibly bitter about buying an ipad a month before the ipad 2 was announced. i dont have the money to upgrade, but even if i did i wouldnt. just on principle. besides, im sure waiting a year for ipad 3 will be worth it... fucking gadgets. goddammit.

also, i still dont understand why the ipad needs a camera. and that facetime shit is a gimmick.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I work at Best Buy and we sell ipads. We get alot of customers that come in and want to return the ipad 1 they bought within the past few months due to not being aware than an ipad2 was coming out. I can direct their attention to this and get some of the more irate customers off my back.

Suppliers Samsung, LG, and Sharp have already produced one million high-res displays for the next-generation iPad for Apple, it has been reported.

The report said that the aim was to produce displays with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, four times the current 1024 by 768 resolution of the first- and second-generation iPads.

That's the one I'm waiting for... the resolution alone will set it apart from game consoles, computers, etc. Imagine all the applications that could take advantage of this (high res medical imaging, visualization, etc.)

Sony and Microsoft better be scared too, as unless it lacks the horsepower to run really complex games, visually it will be superior to the 360 and PS3 right now in terms of visual fidelity. Apple might win (or at least establish them as a major contender right on the heels of Sony and Microsoft) the home game market without ever having created a dedicated console...
