Does nathan Fake make his own music? He supported Vibert a few weeks back and he played an awesome set, I thought he was just a DJ.(he also looks about 12)

This is exactly why I still regard Aphex Twin as the best electronic musician of all time. His ambient pieces are IMO the pinnacle of the genre, his drukqs stuff is really the best of it's kind(not sure what to call it really, but similar forays by other artist don't meet the depth and quality for me), his acid is pretty damn good, his techno is amazing, his Tuss work is fucking phenominal and some of the best funk acid I have ever heard. He is all over the place and still manages to innovate and define whatever he touches, and that is what draws me to him, that is why I study his progression musically more than any other artist and that is why I appreciate everything he has ever released. Even if he is in some way mimicking existing styles, he is moving them forward. RDJ album and come to daddy seems to be a response in many ways to squarepusher and similar jungle, but it managed to be unique and creative in so many ways. It would be really interesting to see what jenkinson and RDJ were doing when they were creating go plastic/drukqs since they were both released around the same time, sharing tracks, innovating music together, exploding in 2001(I miss this groundbreaking music).

Surprised to see this resurrected - it was a bad idea. Still, a lot of people were say something similar to this, which I'd like to respond to:

I wasn't asking for a definitive attempt at finding which music is better than Aphex Twin, I merely wanted opinions about it. For people to use their own criteria to judge. Someone said comparing others with Aphex Twin is like comparing "apples and oranges". Why is that so difficult? I mean, personally, I prefer apples. Just because two artists are completely different doesn't mean it's impossible to decide which, in your opinion, is better. It just requires a bit of mental exertion which, I guess, most people just weren't prepared to do and instead decided to spew out a bunch of artists they like.

Early Cybotron is great stuff, even if it was a bit before Richard's time. Can't go wrong with Larry Heard, either.

I would say, though, the one name in electronic music that could seriously rival the Twin has to be Yellow Magic Orchestra. At least, for this obsessed YMO-head, they could. Technodelic will always impress me.

Also, the stuff on that new Channel Q label is pretty good.

Well being Aphex one of the best, it's difficult to find music as good as his in his style. I'd look for something different if I were you, what about these?
