you can't control people or their circumstance. have pride with yourself and your perfectly crafted sentences, but don't get all fussy - especially when the mistake is not consistent (or in some cases overly consistent and humorous :sup: )

I often post incorrectly around those who bother to correct my relatively minor mistakes in chatmm or on watmm. I find their tendency far more destructive to a conversation than my lack of an apostrophe. It destroys the flow of the discussion sometimes and is usually corrected in a demeaning tone.

I usually correct people because I'd like for them to correct me when I make mistakes. I like learning.

Whales (:whistling:) communicate via sound and vibration, right? Maybe they think about what they communicate before they dump it out there?

Yes, and dogs growl when they're angry. That's not exactly language.

If you do consider it language, then that's not what I'm talking about you stink-butt.

Clearly growling isn't language. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought whale-song was more complex than black and white emotions. I thought they could tell each other where to fish or something.

Although, if that were true, you'd think we'd have at least worked out the basics of it by now. So I guess I'm getting life confused with SeaQuest DSV again.

Well, some animals have more advanced communication than others. Bees dance to describe location. Prairie dogs use harmonics to describe the shape and size of predators. But getting these things confused with the complexity of human language and logic is I think erroneous.

The letter H, say it properly or fuck off.

from whence. even though it's not considered gramatically incorrect anymore, it sounds retarded. use from or whence, not both.

(Also, incomplete paranthesis (like this)

Nope. It's an English language thing.

I've not once heard an American pronounce H as "hey-tch."

when people don't capitalise acronyms. it's a bit autistic of me for that to annoy me lol, but it does. also, LASER, RADAR and SONAR are acronyms. so do the same with them.

("lol" doesn't count, lol)

oh and capitalising proper nouns, people oft seem to fail to do that. but in normal typing situations i rarely bother capitalising the start of words or "I" (as you can see lol). obviously if i'm writing some proper document for work then i do it properly innit.

Hehe, it's okay. Look at Gary's capitalization. And it's his job!

i use irregular capitalisation etc. precisely because i write copy for a living... it's a nice way to keep my business and personal life separate.

Hey-tch is more a Scots/Irish, particularly posh Scots, thing. And Borders too so I will occasionally pronounce it that way. As it's a regional variation on pronunciation, I wouldn't regard it as 'incorrect'.

Using midi to refer to keyboards, as in, "I need a midi, recommend me one."

Confusing acronyms with abbreviations. IDM.

Done when used like this: "We done it!" "I done took the mail."

Don't when used like this: "It don't work."

Got when used like this: "I don't got any." "Do you got it?"

Seen when used like: "Yea, I seen it."

"that there"

Working at a small-town shithole gas station, I encounter this frequently. It's so hard not to reach across the counter and slap half the inbred hicks that come in on a daily basis for their ignorant language-butchery.
