He probably should have had a vote, or a large discussion, before hand and then still made his own decision. The illusion of democracy would have sufficed.

You created the music discussion forum for the discussion of uh... music, plus there's the artist subforums... So you removed the nice tits thread because you got caught looking at it? At work or home or whatever? Because I don't think a more general audience thing is the reason at all. You should rename General Banter, or just call it Banter, because saying you can't discuss some things means it's not general anymore.

 

You are absolutely correct - for too long WATMM has lacked content, and this is (hopefully) a small step in that direction.

 

You're also incorrectly associating this change with anything that happened - I decided it was time to refocus the site, and I saw the stain of adult material one of the problems here, that was pulling focus away from what the site should be about, plus the fact that not everyone wants to see that kind of material. And there's always been rules about adult content, but frankly they weren't enforced to the level they should have been. There should have never been threads purely about pornography or boobs or butts and such.

 

 

Honestly I disagree with the removal of those threads because I don't think it was necessary. At the same time I know I can get that content elsewhere obviously...

I dunno, it remains to be seen if the focus can shift more towards content. The reason I'm here is because of content and community, if this makes the site better then I'll withhold criticism.

I dont care about the boobs thread. But why are you fucking around with goof off threads.

I'd like to add a viewpoint that hasn't yet been expressed: one of utter disinterest. I couldn't care less where the site goes from now on. I've met some good people here, later to go on and hang in real life. I've also had the chance to share my music with like-minded folks.

At this point, both benefits are saturated. I've met the people I want to meet, my music has reached as many people as it's going to...so what's the point of it anymore?

sounds again like the purpose of watmm forums is to be a "IDM fansite" or a site "primarily about music". but a fully music-centric site doesn't seem to be what a lot of people here are looking for.

I missed looking at what people considered hot boobs, or butts. I am all for one banning goatsee type material, but discussing the human art form is worthy of a thread. I have been here a long time, even tho my post count doesn't show it------ (SQUEE) and shit like this has been posted many of many times, but never saw it got out of hand and plagued with spam, or excessive crap. Seems to always be in control.

According to Google Analytics, watmm gets 600x more hits for music related searches than for tits related searches. In other words, more than 99% of search traffic coming to watmm is music related, and removing those threads will cost us about a 0.17% decrease in traffic, almost all of it from idiots searching for "big veiny tits" on yahoo.com.

Also, the threads were gone for 5 days before anyone complained, which means things will go on just fine without them.

totally—i agree too. if i want to look at porn, i wouldn't want said entertainment to be interjected with random comments on how much the flashbulb sucks. that doesn't seem like the point of contention though. once random, non-music-centric topics start disappearing, people will start questioning your motives, consistent or not.

and to me, the idea of consolidating this forum to be focused on music and music alone is pretty depressing, especially when the music on whose foundations watmm was built has grown stagnant.

Pretty much this. Threads that give me a genuine lol are often closed within a few pages, and that's 95% of the reason I come here. Featured artist forums only get a few posts a day, most of which are utterly jazz or just uninteresting/useless to me. Music discussion and EKT seem to have slowed down a bit in recent months as well.

I'll still visit the site, as if I want some tits or summat I can go elsewhere... but the frequent closing of (admittedly ridiculous) hilarious, weird threads has been bugging me.
