Korn was really edgy in 4th grade. I heard them say the f-word and turn ADIDAS into an acronym meaning "all day I dream about sex" and I thought... gosh!

say what you will about them now but when they busted onto the scene they were very raw, very pissed and very unique. they combined a lot of influences and had their own sound from the start.

can't say much about them these days though, i haven't checked them out in years.

nothing reminds me of drinking a lot and generally being really pissed about the girl I was broken up with at the time. it also reminds me of being really pissed off and drinking a lot.

I would like nothing more in the musical world than an end to dubstep.

i had no idea dubstep had such an embarrassing mainstream following until recently. but hell i didn't know what dubstep was until 2010.

i'm still not completely sure, i've heard it in like 100 forms. it's like comparing the early 90's use of the term "IDM" to IDM of today

Sometimes I think I really hate dubstep, then I remember how much I love Shackleton and I get confused.

There are still dubsteps I like which are definitely dubstep in my eyes, like Distance and Vex'd and Appleblim and such, then the slightly more dull but credible people like Pinch and Digital Mystiks, and even the shit jumped-up arseholes like Skream are better than this Deadmau5 fidget wubwubwubwubwaaaaaah stuff that seems to be the rage

oh and the things that fall under that umbrella but really aren't what I think of as dubstep, like Burial and a lot of Hyperdub, Untold and James Blake and Darkstar and Jamie Vex'd and probably wherever Boxcutter is going with his new album, and 2562 and Martyn etc

The 4th grader in me agrees as well.

It just floats with the stream of popularity, picking up a few characteristics on the way and fusing them with they're own 'style'. Pop was pop. Then pop was dance. Then pop was trance. Now pop is dubstep. Alright. But now metal is dubstep.

So yeah. What the hell.

I like dubstep when I'm drunk.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

i am fairly sure that if you like nu metal then you've probably already become a dubstep fan and are an asshole. fuck dubstep.

Wait, people actually live in Bakersfield?

Who else is going to run the meth capitol of the US, you?

We have this special term for a hick or a redneck here. There's this area of town north of the river called Oildale (where all of the oil rigs and business are) which is where all of the trashed out meth smoking while people live. We call them "Daleyans" and the world over should call them that as well. Actually Buck Owen's old studio is over there too. Fucker had this huge Moog. I'm going to dig it up from their storage one day.

Just when I thought dubstep couldn't get any lamer.

This is actually good news to me. It means that finally people might have a reason to stop making dubstep.

:sup:

for the record...

I was actually a huge Korn fan when their first album dropped. I was about 16 and playing drums in a hardcore/metal band at the time. Believe it or not, these guys sounded somewhat original then (I remember thinking they sounded like a cross between Crowbar and Tool).

After seeing them open for KMFDM, I decided they sucked. That hasn't changed.

There's still some good dubstep out there that stays true to what the genre should be about (Hyperdub, Planet-Mu, Hemlock), however shit like this tends to get noticed more and make a bad rap for the genre, and I'm sure it will be a bunch of wobble wankery "brostep"

Hessle Audio and Hotflush Records too.

The situation sucks, I've ranted about it elsewhere. I find the Korn involvement hilarious. It is what is and I'm over it. Say "techno" and majority of people will associate with shitty popular house and trance songs. "Dubstep" has reached that point, albeit in much faster and aggressive manner. Oh well, I'm still going to enjoy well made music in the 70/140 bpm format. :braindance:
