did France ban all masks/facial coverings though? or just this particular one?

I think you should be able to wear whatever the hell you want, within reason.

Does this mean mascots are banned, as well?

my first point wasn't bollocks though, you can't just keep growing the population indefinitely, for fear of a one off "greying crisis". It'll just make the tomorrow for our kids even more fucked.

Plus with less people taking up the slack/using the resources, that come on stream with the economic growth that comes from technological development. That will actually help mitigate some of the burden of that generation that will have to look after their elders.

The whole argument is rubbish really, to help justify the population growth demanded by business and other mentally deranged types.

i guess my point is

you can't ban the burqa, tintin and friends will never escape the evil slave traders!
