This track is so awful I can't even comment coherently. The only time this has happened to me on watmm before was in the Deepwater Horizon disaster thread: THAT'S HOW AWFUL.

after re-listening, I can only think what the fuck happened here? yeah Metallica has lost its edge, but Lou Reed thinking this actually sounds decent? I had hopes this would be more Lou Reed sounding with metallica taking its foot off the distortion pedal.

I recall an interview where one of the Metallicats mentioned that Lars picked out the Load cover from an art book because it reminded him of "licking flames", ignorant of what it actually was. But then they went ahead and called it Load, so :sup:

I actually really liked it when it first came out, especially Bleeding Me. In retrospect though most of the album really is pretty bad, Reload was pretty bad -1. Don't even get me started on St. Anger. When it leaked I downloaded a few tracks out of curiosity and assumed I had stumbled upon some shitty garage band that had been labeled as Metallica by some joker. I was in disbelief when I previewed it at the record store only to discover those shitty mp3s I downloaded were legit.

Yeah, I had pretty much the same exact experience with St Anger.

And I think it was Kirk that chose the artwork, just to be pedantic. I always thought Kirk was the odd one out of the band, he seems more 'arty' or something. I'm sure he had something to do with their decision to wear makeup in the 90s.. Those Corbijn photoshoots from Load were hilarious.

That EPK seems like an SNL bit making fun of aging rock stars. I swear whoever made it is having a laugh at them.

i agree, i have some hope for hype organizations and PR people that a lot of them who work on this stuff know how shitty and hilarious it is and they inject subtle enough humor in so that it will go over the heads of their employers

I think Load is a good album (and Reload to a certain extent) if you take it for what it is—a somewhat bluesy hard rock album—and forget about the amazing 80s stuff. I mean, this song for example is fucking epic:

this song is fucking epic

The Outlaw Torn is fucking awesome (as is Bleeding Me)

It took me about 15 years to realise that.

everything in me right now is telling me not to like it but i do. ive never really been a metallica fan but im a huge lou reed fan, even with all the sub par stuff hes put out. lou always wished he had a sound this muscular and it seems like metallica want to be more "deep" and poetic. some of those lyrics are vintage lou, some are bizarre, and some are completely (and most likely unintentionally) hilarious. hearing james hetfield scream i am the table is worth it alone.

Sorry Lou and James/Lars/Kirk/Mr Crab

I couldn't go any further than the second song, and that really is sad.

also, lou hasnt been able to sing at all since the late 70s. thats a well known fact.

probably because for Reed, heroin and singing went together like bread and butter. \

lol!

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.
