stupid first world problems you're dealing with

Well, I didn't leave out of politeness.  It was def a self-preservation thing.  The first time I wasn't so cautious and decided to go ahead and toss it in there anyway.  The guy said something like "hey, how's it going" and we both acted like it was completely normal.  Between that time and this time I have had some random sketchy dude half-assault me, so I'm trying to react more like someone with normal levels of anxiety in such situations.

At my old place the dumpsters were out in the parking lot and not locked or fenced or anything. My apartment faced out over the parking lot and so I would hear, day and night, cans clattering onto the ground as a steady stream of dumpster divers picked over every last piece of trash, tearing bags open and leaving the dumpsters open so the seagulls could get in and spread trash literally all over the parking lot, let the wind blow garbage everywhere. One after another they would come, endlessly. (Who are the morons still throwing recyclables into the garbage btw?) Anyway it drove me to the breaking point a couple times. There isn't anything you can do besides lock up the dumpsters and/or keep them underground or wherever is tenants-only access. These people are like wild animals. And while I sympathize with the shitty situations that got them to that place, ffs enough is enough. Some of us are trying to dispose of sketchy shit in peace.

Which apartment?  I believe we're both in Victoria, and I know almost all of them through delivery work.  I'll toss a few items out of the dumpster in your honour next time I'm there.

No that's ok but it's very nice of you to offer 🤗

My favourite website is shutting down in June.

:cerious:

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

What's left of a work colleague, to whom I gave care to until his passing three years ago, is now on my desk. Taxes and the whole succession are up to me and my partner now.

Also my favorite forum is closing.

Both are problems — chores, really — that can be surmounted with organisation and work, but the coincidence feels weird.

Been dealing with neck pain for about a year and recently it’s exploded, largely due to sleeping on my 4 year old’s IKEA mattress for 2 months while we wait to have our bedroom floors replaced. Now my neck, shoulders and upper back are super fucked. I went to a great massage spot this weekend but they could only do so much. I went to a chiropractor yesterday and I feel no real difference. Because we recently moved between states I have yet to get a new doctor, otherwise I would be in PT right now.

I tend to get that as well.. slumping posture since childhood + computer job. What has really helped me a lot was a pull up bar. Just hanging from it for a minute helps so much. Of course you can do actual pull ups as well, but the hanging will stretch your shoulders in an awesome way.

I nearly fainted at work yesterday after banding a pallet at my warehouse. Fucking old-ass crimping tool made my arms hurt like hell, then I immediately had to hop off the stand-up forklift as soon as I loaded the pallet on the shelving rack. Vision started going purple, hearing was getting muffled, broke out in a sweat, etc.
Then had to speak with a teledoc, sign some workman's comp paperwork, and find a PCP.

Drove about halfway to work this morning, after arms got sore again from scraping frost off car windows (was about -20 C/-5 F). But then had to pull over because I was feeling queasy. Supervisor and another coworker had to drive me back home with my car and the work truck. Ended up getting a ride to the ER from my mom & stepdad who live about 10 min away. Finally got released from the ER a couple of hours ago, since there were no life-threatening signs.

So now I'm basically on medical leave until Monday. Heart and lungs seem to be fine, according to scans. Just have to be careful with upper body exertion. If arms get sore, then no driving.

Now I just gotta get a follow-up appointment with my PCP, probably find out if there's some other underlying shit going on. Welcome to age 40 I guess.

hmm. could be many different things. blood pressure, electrolytes, vagus nerve pinch... they probably took your blood in the ER ya? for tests? probably tested for that enzyme the liver releases during a heart attack.. but your experience doesn't really sound like a heart attack.

friend of mine had vagus nerve problem and also his carotid artery was in the wrong place.. it went around something instead of under it. took years to figure all this out.

i'm guessing you'll see a specialist? pulmonologist or cardiologist? and get a work up. maybe a stress test with scans before and after.

They did mention a stress test @ the ER earlier, as well as ask about my electrolyte intake. And now I have a 3 PM follow-up appointment at the clinic where my PCP is. So I guess we'll know more 24 hours from now.

stress test is no big deal. basically just a treadmill they ramp up while you're on it. ya don't even run.. just fast walk up hill. but you'll sweat a lot. some docs write things off and are less willing to do all the tests and some want to do every possible test. that's been my experience over the years. guarantee someone will mention panic attacks at some point.

I too have wondered this.  We should hijack a Taylor Swift forum or something.

I think it resets well before 24 hours, I've been hitting my limit more than a couple of times since the announcement, also didn't know it was a thing.

Good idea, Taylor Swift is way too popular, but maybe we can scope out a dead special interest forum.  Pickled eel aficionados or some shit like that.

My sense of taste/smell came back after being gone for 2 days and for a moment I was overjoyed, then I sneezed and it went away again :trashbear:

For the last three days I have had what I can only assume are pig trotter farts, but I have never, to my knowledge, eaten a pig trotter.

If I had a penny for every time that phrase pops into my head apropos of nothing, occasionally a miasmatic eruption, I'd be rich. Usually I can't supress the urge to also say it out loud, so if anyone ever sees a middle-aged dude muttering "pig trotter farts" to himself it might be me.

My blood levels were wacky when I had my test yesterday so I’m being made to go again today. Waiting at the hospital right now, it’s going to be an hour and a half wait. The people look sickly 😷

i have to have a business phonecall.. work phonecall.. over some bullshit and i couldn't care less about talking to this person who is basically going to try and sell me on some shit i shouldn't need to do.

I was looking at games on Steam, and one of the ones that popped up on my "recommended for you" feed (because i have a bunch of point and click games from Amanita Design) was a game called "A Little to the Left". This "game" is one where you win levels by organizing a house. Just go organize your fucking house! Don;t play a game about it! Ahhhh fuck.

The other game that popped up as a best seller is one called "American Truck Simulator", where I guess you get to simulate driving a big rig? Please for the love of god. Play this instead

A guy I went to school with and his friends played this game for charity, some local thing that I don’t know anything about but I saw them on the news. I do know you have to pay attention to it because the bus can swerve off the road and then you have to start all over again.

Yeah Penn & Teller offered it up as satirical piece - they called it a "veri-simulator" and advertised it as being "stupefyingly like reality".

Now, people pay money to do simulators that are basically work. I refuse to let my kids play any of those "maintain a hamburger restaurant" games. They'll have plenty of time later in life to work.

Loading Ready Run!

I fear the music video I'm working on is pretty weak.  May need to go back to the drawing board.
