Working a long shift today, 08:30-20:45

I rang the night lady the last night and asked if she wanted early relief (in order for her to relieve me early in the evening), said I'd get there for 7am.

Got up at 4:30, got to station at 5:50 just as a train was pulling in. Train sat there for 10mins, then it changed final destination to two stops away, sat there for another 5mins. Driver says train has technical fault, geddoffthefuckingtrain.

Stand on platform as he slowly closes all the doors. Faulty train then slooooowly crawls to next station, as in you could see the back end of it from the platform for the next 10mins.

Another train comes around the corner, it's also doing a slooooww crawl towards us. Myself and my fellow commuters have still yet to travel anywhere

When it finally arrives it's out of service, all the lights off. Zooms through station without stopping.

Third train comes! :^)

This one has changed to a fast service now to close the gap, skipping lots of stations. Wheeee!

Quick journey, we get to Baker Street at 6:50, looks like I might still make it.

Realise all the lines I need to get to my destination in two stops are all suspended for the weekend due to engineering works.

Have to get two other lines instead, each one 5 stops with a changeover between them.

WHEN I GET TO MY DESTINATION STATION I'M JUST IN TIME TO SEE THE EXIT ELEVATOR DOORS CLOSE AS I COME AROUND THE CORNER.

Was a nice little final fuck you from the fates.

I'm trying to teach myself FMOD and Wwise integration into Unity and I fucking hate the tutorials I can find. They show you what to do but not why so it doesn't really help me understand anything.

Ableton won't open a particular project file because there is not enough RAM available, and I'm not sure how to get around that.  I can't open the file to anything to it that would reduce the amount of RAM it uses.  So frustrating that it doesn't save backup files like other programs I've used.  Then I could just open a version from before the problem started.  I think this project may be a goner.  10+ hours of my life wasted... ah well.

Could you disable some plugins in your AU/Plugin manager? I once had that problem with a project for an art installation and ended up disabling a bunch of plugins I knew I was using in Logic's AU Manager, I then opened the project, bounced a bunch of tracks, to save up memory and then reopened the project and lo and behold... it worked!

Disabling my vst folder was one of the first things I tried, but that didn't help.  If I could disable Ableton's native plug-ins I think that might fix it, but there's no option for that.  I tried moving that folder elsewhere, but Ableton still managed to find a way to read it.

My sister gave me a nice bottle of gin for a present, 'cept Bob a whiskey man. Anyone know good gin drinks?  I can only do G'n'T's in the summer and it's still fucking March and we're getting like a foot of snow tomorrow.

I like the taste of gin so I'll have a gin and club soda (rather than tonic water). But you get the full flavor of the gin. 

For something more simple you could just do gin and cranberry juice, or gin and ginger-ale, or gin and orange juice (or grapefruit juice) are also very popular. Covers the gin up nicely.

Thanks for those tips Bluky, Im definitely taking up some of those suggestions.  I'm not averse to the taste of gin but I've never been particularly attracted to it, also doesn't help that I had several violent encounters with cheap gin (all self-induced) in my teens.  I do like that it's flavored of something, as opposed to nothing like vodka, so I might give the gin & soda a spin first

I find gin and tonic alright sometimes, but there is a TON of sugar in tonic water (whodathunk it with how bitter it is?) so I tend to have the soda instead. A bit lighter. You can add a touch of lemon or lime concentrate to it too with the gin to change it up.

Excellent suggestion.  Only problem is it's on a desktop which is too heavy to easily haul to the river.

BUT AS IT SO TURNS OUT I solved my FWP by *totally not pirating* a slightly updated version of Ableton, which opened the file without issue.  It only took 7 and a half hours of trying different things out to get me here... and that is why I am able to stick to this here FWP thread despite my FWS.  In fact, that is probably the most time i've ever spent trying to work out a solution to a music software problem.  Man... what a brickwall head smacker of a day.

a nice simple gin drink is a gimlet, which is just gin and lime juice (or lime cordial if you want it a bit sweeter, or you can add a drop of sugar syrup to regular juice).

I like a g+t, or a g+t with a dash of grapefruit. or gin with lots of ice and a mixture of oj and grapefruit juice is also nice. 

i mostly only drink cocktails in the summer myself though as well, you could always just wait...

A Bloody Mary made with gin instead of vodka (also known as a 'Spicy Red Snapper') is actually superior to the OG version.

I once went to an exhibition at a museum where some guys from Israel had been invited to perform on the opening night. They had brought along a whole bunch of shit. They had lined up three tables full of equipment and it sounded like complete ass. It noise. Just pure noise. It was fucking terrible.

when i was at art school back in the day one guy thought it would be cool to do that as part of a project

he had a mic and amp , a pedal, and a bow for playing a large coiled spring

well he tried anyway. couldn't get it to work
