I'm pretty happy that Mr. Aphex is trying some new things and it looks like he's having some fun artistically for once.

does anyone remember that track from the metz set? can't upload snippet now but it was in the beginning, before the well known unreleased track. it sounded exactly like the first track in this video (and the prepared piano pieces in drukqs). overall, it was just some precussive prep piano with hip-hop-ish drum beats. pretty good actually.

electrically triggered acoustic drum are uncharted territory. I expect more in this area. Can you imagine super fast triplets autechre style with acoustic gear? Processed? A world of sounds awaits

It's not uncharted. check Pat Metheny's Robot Orchestra Project, for one.

I guess it gives roadies something to do again, set the kit up for live shows. I can see the point there, providing employment to stoners. heh.
