The controls are fucking awful tho, at least on PS2. Shooting is hard as fuck, I always hit everyone with the car and didn't shoot except it was strictly necessary

im playing on my mac now, so there's no auto aim unless you go back to the silly classic controls. the auto aim sucks in general, not crappy enough for me to rescind my best game evar title tho

I'll give it a try on PC. I've never even unlocked the second island in GAT3 because of the controls

I always played GTA 3 and SA on PC and loved it. Definitely agree about turning your point of view before turning a vehicle.

Off topic, but I've been playing Skyrim and the lack of free look on horses really bugs me. In Oblivion I think you could free look, and horse movement was only WASD, and it felt so much better riding mounts. Free look is important shit, I hate it when the mouse controls movement of a vehicle.

Grew up playing GTA 3 and VC on PC, some of my favorite games of all time, specifically Vice City. I am super pumped about the new game and I hope it isn't as dull as I found GTA 4

I'm playing 3 on my phone, and I'm getting through it pretty well.

The shooting is pretty terrible, especially on a phone, so I also try to run people over when I have the chance... Kind of takes me back to GTA 1 and 2 actually.

One of the latter missions when you have to shoot down a bi-plane full of drugs is particularly difficult. Shooting is a pain, but the smaller draw distances mean that the plane just pops out of the air.

Oh my god. The plane looked real for a second. Definitely not going to be disappointed by the graphics

I wonder if it'll be forwards compatible and susceptible to an upgrade for the new consoles.

Those look like current-gen console framebuffer grabs. (full resolution here) I hope their production pipeline is geared towards higher specs, but I doubt it. They'd better not wait another year to release a shitty PC port. Max Payne 3 was the first Rockstar game in ages with a good PC version, so I'm keeping my hopes up for now.

That's not to say those screenshots look bad. Rockstar knows how to create beautifully lit, high quality visuals and the content is obviously exciting. But these are not next-gen or high-end PC screenshots.

Depth of field, bokeh, and motion blur will make things go a long way though. Looks beautiful.

Obviously, it's not next-next-gen graphics (that's what I'm going to call them now), but they're pretty sophisticated. Probably the best I'd imagine an Xbox could do... so I guess these are screenshots of the PC build, obviously.

Therefore, I stand by my hopeful comment that, if the next-next-gen consoles are coming soon, that GTAV will be up-scalable for them. It might mean that console gamers aren't left behind by PCs, as usual.

I doubt it though. And yeah, the graphics don't really need to be state-of-the-art, just the best possible. The gameplay and sandbox is what GTA is all about. Graphics are a bonus.

ive not played computer games since i moved out like three years ago, but i used to sit and get high and play vice city with my pals almost constantly, im rattling through san andreas for the first time on my new xbox at the moment and having a wail of a time. this new one excites me.

I don't feel excited with videogames anymore, and haven't played for years, but if i have the chance i will try this new GTA, in a local store or something like that.

Back in the days, before highschool, a new GTA would excite me like no other thing (including the ladies), and it is still the only game within its genre that keeps that perfectly balanced formula that makes you want to play it everyday, and still get a differente experience. i have always loved that sense of absolute freedom, which doesn't necessarily tends to start going on a killing spree, but rather a long drive or a sport. It's great how GTA has kept its formula for so many editions, only improving graphics and adding stuff, without get tiring. It's also one of the best multiplayer games, when it is not even designed for multiplayer. GTAIV was the first to have this option, but i remember playing Vice City with my friends and it was so much better than all the other multiplayer games.
