i'm just not big enough of a fan yet of this band to validate spending this much on a special packaging release. I mean i could understand on one hand trying to fetishize and make your releases collectable early on to set a botiqueish pattern for the future but on one hand i feel like it's too soon for a band of their stature to be putting out such exclusive deluxe pricey packages

They were sort of heading in that direction, even with their debut work, which got bundled into an expensive 3xLP set. But I agree.

And at the same time, I've been weighing the pros and cons of buying this for at least an hour at work.

i mean the reason i complain is because I AM tempted to buy it as well, which in all honesty is because of how goddam good looking their packaging is. So yeah i wouldnt be surprised if i did end up owning this

fuck, you just convinced me to buy this. oh god oh god

edit: no you didn't. shit, after shipping and handling costs, this two-record-in-a-four-record-set-(meaning-i'd-have-to-buy-the-other-two-records-and-who-knows-how-much-they-will-cost) is $72. egh, really want it, too—hopefully it'll be offered somewhere stateside, or at least somewhere a little more price-friendly.

It really is very pricey, I agree, and it stung when I ordered it, but there simply aren't that many artists i'd spend that much on without having to think about it for too long so what the hell! I guess we'll see when the packaged product arrives.

My God I'm such a fucking hypocrite. Now I'm interested in it. Piss! And Awepittance, I don't think it's ever too early for an artist to do something like this, It's just Demdike are the kind of artists that take a while to get somewhere w/ people. They don't seem like an instant grab you kind of artist. The instant grab is all in the artwork and packaging......and it's working.

I guess it's just their way of getting people to buy the physical product, and boy do I want to buy it. But no money for records at this time of year.

btw new demdike stare mix on the modern love site, only just started listening my sen but sounding nice thus far.

Nice. Thanks. Their mixes are usually ace. I remember how they used one of Erik Saties tracks with a lot of humming and noise in the background... magic.

Just arrived, possibly the best packaging I've seen yet on a Vinyl set, artwork is sublime. Music wise the last track on the Purple disc is a great track, rest of it will take some repeated listens I reckon.

Agreed, although as always whenever I receive a piece of deluxe packaged product, mine was randomly damaged. :(

I suspect this will be a grower.

I'm about to buy this, I think, but I'm just curious-- how long are the tracks? What's the total runtime of both discs?

Holy shit, one of my good friends went back on the history on her computer from a while back where I had been looking at Elemental and she up and ordered it for me for Christmas! What! She's crazy awesome! I feel like I should keep it at her place as a decoration.

that's awesome, but also a tad creepy. What if you were just looking at snuff porn and that friend didnt know you were a necrophiliac?

Oh no, she already knows all about that.

I find this to be quite easy-listening. It's nice, but it is not as intense as their earlier output I fell in love with. I guess this is really new material while the three 3 LPs they kicked out last year probably were made from the same sessions. Anyway maybe this need to grow on me a bit more.

I did think it was a little strange, but then she goes completely bonkers on multiple gifts for everyone on Christmas so that's just her.

This showed up today and I'm really impressed by it. I actually had listened to a rip of it that I found online, but the rip doesn't come close to capturing the full frequency, particularly the bass on the record. Also, at least one of the tracks was ripped at the wrong speed-- "Mnemosyne" is supposed to play at 45, but the rip had it playing at 33. Sounds good at either speed, but it's really intense at 45. The locked groove track is pretty hypnotic, and one of the cleanest locked grooves I've ever heard. I was listening to it for about 5 minutes before I got up and moved the needle.
