Critiquing music without buying it seems perfectly fine to me. Now if you download it, listen to it a whole bunch of times, the proceed to complain about it and never pay then that's a problem. If I listen to something a lot I generally buy it, even if I just listen to it online. Going back to the food analogy, if I go to an ice cream stand I'm not gonna buy the ice cream that they let me taste test that suck, but I'm allowed to taste test them first and then advise my friends on which flavors are the best.

actually, at some fancy restaurants you can complain and you will usually get some compensation or even a full refund, just as some music stores allow you to return your items if you don't like them. if i bought the record, didn't like it and return it, would it be better than just downloading it, not liking it, and deleting it? how?

After a few plays, I've been immensely enjoying this album. Sure, it's not quite what I was anticipating for a Clark release, but it's a really interesting direction for him

That's the overall feeling I get from this LP. 3 years in the making? Masterpiece? "I nailed it!" ? Come on. Even in this unplugged, acoustic, indie sounding form, Clark could have done at least better and more complex melodies. Apart from some sound signatures you know from earlier LPs and some very short moments this LP could also be produced from some jackass from Universal Music or so. So: If the LP wouuld go anywhere at least... but it doesn't - at all in my humble opinion.

why would i pay for an album i don't like? there's samples and released teasers and i like everything clark.

i mean i'm 99% sure i'll like it based on the bolded above so won't be paying for an album i don't like.

i like to own physical products and support my favourite artists... i want them to keep making music and i don't feel entitled to everything... for nothing... all the time.

however clark and dare i say warp in general is REALLLY trying to distant themselves from aphex/ae/squarepushers label and electronic music. maybe clark is sick of hearing about the comparisons to aphex? or being measured against aphex. instead he would rather be measured against BOC

Okay so I just had my first listen to this. I thought it was very good indeed, spell-binding with so many different styles weaving around in the mix. I can see how IDM purists will get the hump with it but for me this was

The Martina T Bird track is a bit dodgy though, the music is fine but her vocals don't seem to fit and stick out like a sore thumb. Not for me.
