Aphex Twin Unreleased Ambient Works 1985-2012 [Fanboy Wankery]

The pretender should have dumped the tracks to a shitty cassette first, it's all too clean sounding to be passable as a lost&found archive from the 80s onward.

Yeah it's way too clean sounding, both mix/production and also song structure etc.

 

However... I'm skipping through it... and I really like what I'm hearing! I don't know if I'd want to listen to all 327 hours worth of this stuff but... I probably will eventually :P

Quite enjoying some of this, but if this was the genuine article I could imagine that RDJ would be seeking a court order to block this or would have stated something on the net about it, so perhaps it is a well intentioned fake although nice and dreamy as it is. About 9 or 10 minutes into the first Unreleased Ambient Works it sounds like a sample from the Orbs Adventures in the Ultra World single.

I actually have it on a very good authority that these tapes are in fact real.

The sad thing is yet another artist who feels he needs to piggyback off an established artists' name instead of letting his work stand on it's own merits.

Still listening to part 1 of Unreleased Ambient at 1.08 it goes into Stone in Focus which has most certainly been released.

It's more the amount that's got me confused. There are HOURS of this stuff, right? Who the fuck makes like 20 hours of even 20%-credible fake Aphex? That's insane.

I foresee a flood of releases being tagged as unreleased Aphex (if this hasn't happened already), so much so that when some real previously unreleased Aphex finally does get released, nobody believes that it's Aphex.

 

In fact, this sounds fun. I might do some.

If it wasn't so pathetic it'd piss me off. Maybe this is the nasty result we're getting to with all of the superficial cultural recycling going on, coupled with the coddled "you're special" mentality my generation and younger grew up in. Hoping it gets flushed out when these sorta efforts fail.
