I just received that wax in the post today. I am playing the first disc now which finishes with Red in Blue. I believe that this may possibly be the last time that I play this disc again. I would have been happy with an EP with all the songs on the second disc.

Well this may just be your lucky day. I'll happily take that first disc off your hands :emotawesomepm9:

i can't compare tracks from Ufabulum with tracks from Shobaleader One... It's not the same thing & Ufabulum doesn't sound like Shobaleader One... i disagree...

The first half of Ufabulum has the same vibe, very cheesy.

you mister got your vibes all mixed up big time!

I don't think it was a coincidence.. .303 scopem and The Barn (303 Kebab Mix) are the same way. Good catch though, I didn't notice that one at first.

Nah, you're a wee child who can't wait for official release. Embarrassing. Shove your privilege.

Finally bought the 2xCD edition, liking it very much. The album was immediately enjoyable but is also a grower, which is very good. It's the first time I like all the tracks on a Squarepusher album.

The first half is really good, melodic and well executed, 4001 and Unreal Square (despite its brosteppy feeling) are personal favorites. Stadium Ice and Energy Wizard are everything I expected Shobaleader One to be, and even better.

Red In Blue is a nice interlude. The second half is a crescendo of typical Squarepusher mind fuckery, getting higher and higher 'til the 303 Scopem Hard eargasm. Ecstatic Shock is my least favorite as of right now but I'm sure it'll only get better.

The opening melody to Energy Wizard (that's repeated throughout the track) sounded familiar. Then it came to me.

Skip to 0:32 on the video.

The same melody (in a different key) is revisited in Dark Steering at 1:52.

It's just a few familiar notes. The squarepusher melody is a bit different in the last part.

LAW: Speaking of which, “Surf Wax America” reminds me of a Cure song.

Rivers: No — I remember thinking, 'this is way too close to something else, there’s no way I can get away with this.' But at the time we were nobodies; we didn’t have a record. I thought, no one’s going to sue us. I can’t remember what the song was, which is probably for the best.

LAW: I think it was “Caterpillar” — it has a keyboard line that’s similar.

Rivers: Oh! Maybe that’s what it is! I wasn’t aware it was the Cure — you may be exactly right. But you know what, it’s also one of those piano pieces by Erik Satie, the Trois Gymnopedies.

LAW: Oh my gosh, you’re right!

Rivers: And you know what, in a few years someone else is going to use it, and that’s cool.

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.

Can't wait for the show! the video's look great but lol i can not understand how people just stand there filming with their phones the whole concert

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.
