mira calix was there. check her twitter she was about. infact she just had her coat stolen on the flight back to UK.

i thought her piece was the only interesting art thing. and sadly it was swamped soundwise by the bird thing nextdoor.

oh yeah the box installation was beautiful, i loved the 3d sweeps it made across its cells.

my girlfriend walked in without a ticket too, security was really lax.

squarepusher was good. I have a few reservations about the new show though

 

1. airdrumming really? are you not busy up there?

2. no bass guitar?

3. no old stuff?

4. encouraging the crowd to cheer constantly like paul oakenfold

 

visualshow was nice though. very hynoptic.

1.Air drums and crazy arm waving - pretty standard for a Squarepusher show if he's not busy w/ the bass. Go Plastic tour was the same. He has to do something w/ those arms if they're not epileptically pounding away on the strings.

2. No bass on the new album = no bass in the show. Again, Go Plastic, the same. Maybe I'm used to it cause that's the show I saw first.

3. Wish he'd at least encored w/ a classic favorite. He usually does encores (Come On My Selector or A Journey to Reedham or something), but maybe no time for it in that show. He didn't do one in NYC either. Cut and dry, all new album consistency and nothing more.

4. It was a little funny w/ him trying to brink the cheers. I think crowds in other countries go a little crazier. He made w/ a little of the Daft Punk vibe there, but great lights indeed!
