The Knife - Shaking the Habitual

cool beats in this new track but lacks their melodic style from previous albums that they can usually do really well. To me the track didn't sound all that much like The Knife but I'm curious to hear how it will sound compared with the other tracks on the new album.

I agree, unfortunately. Something something transexuals something something family something something. Fuck if I know, I think it's supposed to mean something profound, but what we have here is a failure to communicate.

I decided to watch the video after all. I was expecting something more melody-oriented with singing, but I kinda like it. The grunting/chanting and pitch-shifted melody is ugly in a masochistically pleasant way.

I assume you're talking about the video? I couldn't understand many of the lyrics.

I didn't see any meaning in it; I think it's just an aesthetic they're interested in. Fetish/sexual deviance isn't new for The Knife. See the video for Pass This On. This theme isn't present in Silent Shout, but that one attracted a different audience, including me. The videos for that album were from totally different dimensions. This video is much more straight surreal and seems to be related to their earlier stuff.

I think the song is great. Actually sort of surprised it isn't being well received here of all places, what with the pretty driving beat and all.

Based on the song, the album has huge potential. I am hoping for something with more melody on the album, though.

If it is all in a similar vein to the first single, they will alienate a lot of their fans.

Anyway I listened to the album previews before they were taken down from soundcloud. Sounds like it's going to be super interesting and experimental and the cover actually seems to fit the music. Really excited for this.

Well, I don't know, it was leaked in Soundcloud, they removed it and now it's in Hypemachine. Probably it's also a leak.

actually the whole album didn't leak yet, as far as I know. Only the new single.

Edit: my fault. I wanted to say that THE SINGLE leaked on Soundcloud.
