Exai cover is a crime

I have the cd in my hand and the artwork seems perfect.

Tempted to get vinyl.....

when i first saw the cover of Exai on the web i thought it was pretty underwhelming and didn't like the color scheme. Seeing it now on the actual CD and vinyl i really love it. It gives it a completely different look. The paper texture feels raw, almost recycled. The actual pixelated part is de-bossed and barely seems like a different color it just has a different coating/texture. The only thing i don't love is the quality of the vinyl sleeves. they seem a little papery and cheap compared to the last few AE releases

the cover is fine (infact, having receiving the vinyl i am happy to say the cover/packaging is rather lovely:).

the real crime is the tracklisting sticker on the back. i tried my best to peel it off but couldn't help but tear off some of the box material with it :\

why'd you try to peel it off? I don't think it's meant to be, the CD has the same deal

because it was a sticker. and stickers must be peeled off!! them's the rules!!

(maybe i can cover up the sticker marks with one of the free bleep vinyl stickers. maybe thats what the stickers are for:)

I'd really like some hi res pics of the individual artwork for the two discs. Any suggestions on where I may find that?

Yes, i guess he would like it better as a clean design.

Awepittance said the CD has the same sticker so it's a double pleasure cause I'm gonna order CD too.

I don't really like the track listing sticker either. I think it would have been great if the tracklisting was printed on the back as well, maybe some emboss too. The sticker makes it look cheap to me.

But I'm not going to be so silly as to try and pull it off.

Also, my cover bulges a bit. That's a shame I think. Would have felt more "designed" if it was more flat. Maybe I should have left the transparent sheet on it, and only cut it open on the side. I'm thinking to put some books or whatever on it, hoping the cover gets flattened a bit that way, but I'm not sure if that's a silly thing to do.

I think having a debossed tracklisting would've been very awesome, but you can guarantee it would've increased the cost of production quite a bit.

I actually quite like the sticker though. It emphasises tDR obsession with 'product'

A debossed tracklist would have to be in a rather large font size, otherwise it wouldn't be readable. Same with foil stamps. Things get really weird at small sizes!

Does pulling off the sticker make me fail at autechre?? It was totally meant to be pulled off *n*

The tracklisting sticker reminds me of a receipt, but I love it.

I think the sticker is there so whoever finds this album on a store but is not into autechre knows what he's gonna get, and strictly because of that

sticker wasn't there for Oversteps vinyl though...

i feel like i remember a sticker being outside the shrink wrap, is that not the case?

yep it was the case with Oversteps, and is still the case with Exai.

Not with my copy of 'steps.

yep it was the case with Oversteps, and is still the case with Exai.

Yeah I would have tried to remove the sticker too; I usually dislike text on album covers.

Also, my copy of Oversteps was sticker-less.
