Here's a completely new thought: Imagine the new album actually coming out and being complete rubbish :biggrin:

How sad would that be.

I really hope it actually means a new album is going to be released. I've had to wade through 8 years of hoaxes, speculation and false information FFS, mainly on this forum, and I'm almost at the point of not giving a toss anymore. I'm not even going to follow this cryptic clue horse shit, I'll wait until I hear it on Radio 6 before I buy something.

I still don't see how the remaining copies can be found. 5 copies distributed throughout the entire world.

Anyway, let's assume that that they have.

The only way for this to work would be if the remaining copies were "found" by people who are part of the campaign. They either already know the location of their own designated copy or already have it in their possession.

That way, at the appointed time, staggered say a couple of days apart, each of them in turn announce that they have found a copy.

That, at least, is conceivable.

i dunno if you were to make sure they were in busy record shops run by friends of yours that you trust, you could reasonably assume that they would all be found in a month i think. certainly if you put one in my local, rubadub, someone would see it within hours, and it wouldnt take long before someone recognised it for being worthwhile. if it was in rubadub and lasted longer than 3 days, i would be suprised.

A new BoC album for the summer vacation, would be pretty fucking incredible.

But that's 2unrealistic4me

I would like this idea a lot more if each of the records actually had a substantial piece of music on them. Why be a typical (in this arena of things) and have some minimal 20 second snippet? The operation can still be cryptic as a whole, even if a beautiful, fully fleshed out 6 minute track or whatever was put on the record. Surely they have enough extra music by now? They could even all add up to one amazing piece of music as part of the puzzle, too. Dreaming...

It's not just BoC. Unknown musicians I know personally who are always making good music are happy to throw 'proper', decent tracks about for free. There's usually enough to go round when you are into making music! Whereas someone 'official' like RDJ is apparently sitting on mountains of excellent music, but when he pranks or throws in tracks on more unusual releases it's just something silly. It doesn't hurt the 'main' album if bonus/compilation/mystery tacks are also amazing! (The Tuss is a wonderful exception.)

But I suppose some artists can put of 20 seconds of material and people will get very excited about it.

Fuck this mystery bullshit.

So you're hating on this because they picked National Record Store Day to finally break the Radio Silence? BoC fans are a funny lot.

"Soon" enough for you? :emotawesomepm9:

It's legit. And just the beginning.

Sweet! Bring on the mystery shit, I say. That's part of the package with BOC, and I'm glad they're embracing it this time around. But what's most important here is that we have something legitimate and tangible for once.

what the fuck are you talking about joyrex, he didn't even mention rsd at all

What if it's all a hoax

with Joyrex at it's core?

He pretended to be Warp;

pressed vinyl and called stores.

But then, it turns out

that everything is true!

Joyrex is BoC;

says everyone, "who knew?"

haha, it is as if:

- watmmers are fed up with fake announcements and a long, tiresome wait

- watmmers are afraid of being ridiculed by other watmmers in the boc subforum

I only recently got over fervently checking WATMM in anticipation of autechre, and now this?

How am I ever suppose to get any work done? Warp artists are going to get me fired.
