i like how the fact that something to do with BOC is actually happening has brought lots of long-lost members out of the woodwork.

While I'm not super huge into BoC, I'm going to be soooooo mad if it's a rerelease.

i'm 100% opposite. really, really hoping to have a high-quality re-release, as i'm not at all up for TCH mk2...

I don't think anyone is up for TCH mk2, but seeing as all three of their LPs are pretty unique I think we'll be fine.

honk if you got boc on cd

I've been listening to it more often than MHTRTC or Geogaddi of late.

perhaps. i just still can't quite get over my disappointment of the TCH era. i fucking love everything from Old Tunes through to Geogaddi, but to me the last two releases were pretty big letdowns. i become so pessimistic whenever my favourite artists get ready to release new material, especially after it's been a while...

the thing is, its all complete opinion anyway because i think tch was much nicer than music has the right, and about as enjoyable as geogaddi. id be happy with more tch stuff, cheesier, but harmonically much more pleasing to mine ear.

so what pisses one person off pleases another.

Indeed. I really like TCH too.

Left Side Drive, though. that's one of my favourite BoC tunes.

yeah. Whenever I read trash talk about Trans Canada Hwy, I always think about how that's a great song

Someone on IRC is speculating it belongs in the second slot because:

------

6+9+9+7+4+2 = 37 => 3+7 = 10

7+1+7+2+2+8 = 27 => 2+7 = 9

9+3+6+5+5+7 = 35 => 3+5 = 8

------

5+1+9+2+2+5 = 24 => 2+4 = 6

So -/10/9/8/-/6

I made a dvd cd about a week ago of boc maxima, peel sesh, remixes, twoism, hi scores and the japanese bonus tracks.

how very prescient of me.

(honk)

I'm guessing it's second according to my theory

1. XXXXXX

(11?)

2. 6+9+9+7+4+2 = 37

3+7 = 10

3. 7+1+7+2+2+8 = 27

2+7 = 9

4. 9+3+6+5+5+7 = 35

3+5 = 8

5. XXXXXX

(7?)

6. 5+1+9+2+2+5 = 24

2+4 = 6

then

11+10+9+8+7+6 = 51

5+1 = 6

(edit) haha you were quick!

I thought seven ate nine?

This throws my calculations off completely

Can’t stop laughing at this comment on the NPR page:

Hey buttholes, you were supposed to tell us the name of that Boards of Canada song. something like ------/------/XXXXXX/-------/------/-----”

I'm guessing because the double digits are in the wrong place it should be reversed:

>247996

and then if we use the descending last digit theory it goes in the 5th segment:

>——/——/717228/936557/247996/519225

Are you "ormus"? Not my own idea obviously, in fact I was checking it as I typed it in. :smile:

Well now you guys are just overfitting the curve. If it was meant to be flipped backwards, wouldn’t there be a clue? Granted, there were a few extra chirps in the NPR audio, but it didn’t strike me as a clear hint to turn anything backwards.

Plus, if this is gonna be anything cool, we need there to be more data contained in the code, not less. In other words, if the “code” is just that some numbers descend or whatever, then there isn’t much data left to decode into something interesting.

To that end, I plucked out the little synth melody on guitar, and assuming I’m in tune, it appears to be notes surrounding an A-flat major chord. Since the notes are the same before each message, I was wondering if that was perhaps a clue.

EDIT: but I couldn’t figure out how it could be. A clue, that is. REGARDLESS THERE IT IS

Wow, infiltration at NPR! Last I checked, NPR never addressed BOC before (although I think some artists they interviewed cited BOC). I hope they actually give BOC some air time in the future (the way they always used to play Tortoise between stories on All Things Considered or Fresh Air).
