i dont understand why the harddrive is such a big issue. I still use an 80gig PS3, and just delete the game data and keep the save files of the game I finished/won't play for a while. It's not that annoying.

It's convenience, really - plus, this upcoming generation will probably see more digital-only games than ever before, and when you've got a 20+GB game, you really don't want to re-download it, or worse, re-install it from disc, finding the disc, etc.

For this generation that's fine, but in the next one where games are closer to 50-100gig in size and requiring mandatory installs, the half terabyte standard is soon gonna fill up

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Why couldn't they just turn around and 'encourage' Mattrick to move on? Is that so unlikely?

I don't think it's so much as him leaving as it is having got such a high up role at Zynga in such a short space of time (as in starting next week). CEO roles take a long amount of negotiation time, especially with the whole 'gardening leave' for breaches in company confidentiality.

Just dug this up, posted yesterday:

"News that Don Mattrick is leaving Microsoft as president of the company's Interactive Entertainment unit to run Zynga was a shock when it broke on Monday--to Microsoft, in particular. Just days before the company planned to announce a massive reorganization and months before the release of Xbox One, there was no contingency plan for Mattrick's departure--a sign that almost no one had a clue."

Doesn't give a source on where they've pulled the info about no contingency for Mattrick leaving, so make of that what you will.

Eurogamer ran with this today:

"Windows chief Julie Larson-Green is set to replace Don Mattrick as boss of Xbox, according to a report by business publication Bloomberg. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will announce a management reshuffle next week, and as part of that Larson-Green may assume control of hardware engineering for the whole company, a source told Bloomberg. That includes Xbox in all its forms. Larson-Green is a 20-year Microsoft veteran who specialises in technical design and development. She worked on Internet Explorer 3.0, Internet Explorer 4.0, Microsoft Office and, most recently, Windows 8."

Oh... goody, someone with a pedigree for quality products right there.

The new Zynga guy is set to make 40+ million/year... so he jumped ship at just the right time, IMO - even if Zynga isn't around in 3 years, he'll be set (as if he wasn't already most likely).

Bill Gates must be weeping at what Microsoft has become since his departure... by the same token, Steve Jobs may literally be rolling his his grave at some of the things Apple is doing now that he famously said no to in the past.

Expecting Linux to succeed in any way in the mainstream is like expecting a headless chicken to not fucking flop around and die all over the place.

So the PS4 ships with the Playroom software included, but the camera is sold separately? Wtf

Android seems to be doing pretty well within the mainstream market

Fair enough. I don't really think of Android as Linux, I guess.

I think they made a big mistake not including the camera with the PS4... like the previous cameras for ps2/3, this one will be underutilized as well since building a game around a non-mandatory peripheral never works out. At least Microsoft learned that with Kinect...

Yeah there's a huge difference when you include something with a console. It becomes a part of it, no division.

Now devs will always be wary about using it with games due to this percent having the camera and this percent not having it... etc. etc.

Is it just a camera or is there speech functionality like with Kinect? Haven't looked into it much.

With Gamescom going on right now, I thought I'd revive this thread to bring attention to this gem on PS4:

Whoa, I can't wait to play that.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

So did anyone buy an Xbone? I see Joyrex got his PS4. We seem to have Sony and Nin fanboys here, but no Ballmerites? Lol
