steinvrod pls.

The Ovidiu Cara thing was just a guy playing around, it got deleted already.

I get an uncomfortable feeling when playing this EP. The whole thing is bizarre. Okay, let's assume it's just some kid. Why would you never, ever, ever make any sort of statement, or try to profit with live gigs, interviews, trying to have some online presence like pretty much everyone these days, specially as a kid. You would be tripping out if you got signed to a legendary record label like Rephlex, you would do something.. guy has 0 online presence. Oh, and he trolled Planet-Mu records too when they offered him a deal. Who would do that?

I sometimes think it was someone on Rephlex making tracks in a laptop, since it got the great melodies, the amazing drum patterns, but sometimes the synths feel like someone else, but then again, in some places I feel like there is some hardware involved. I mean listen to the extremely crisp high ends at the begining on backyard, when that sound sort of pans from left to right in the intro, it sounds great.

Loving the compression on the breaks too.

Maybe it's someone on Rephlex (Rich or Tom..) using a mix of VST and hardware gear to confuse everyone, or maybe it's some anonymous kid that made these tracks at 15.. both are equally crazy and possible answers. Actually, it would be cooler if it's some kid who can't be bothered with anything.

I dont know, the tuss game was/is fun. i think it was more obvious, and is like a social experiment. Steinvord is even more fun, if he/she is some kid, well, a lot of respect for him. The music is top notch. But i think he really is some big name. untitled (not in the ep, just in youtube) is awesome. and this vst vs analog shit is a joke, i bet that even richard cant note the diference with some new vsts.

I don't give a fuck who made it, the music in itself is plenty to keep me going.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

listen from the myspace page. the shit on youtube is either ripped from vinyl or ripped from the myspace page then REencoded in lossy format. i was recently jamming to the myspace playlist and practically experienced iyff acid for the first time because the version there is different, it's iyff acid edit 1, instead of iyff acid e1, and the audio is richer than when it's ripped from vinyl, which lacks frequency coverage. i was noticing stuff in the high end i didn't know was there.

Grant is trying to get a tour happening in the States and he mentioned Steinvord on the roster. He's looking for venues, so if any if you feel like you could help him out do so. Then maybe there would be a Steinvord gig happening.

is this for real? i contacted a local booking outfit that's good, they should be contacting grant on facebook.

actually i just checked my email and the booking dude said he couldn't contact grant from the facebook page. how do you contact grant? i get an error on the rephlex contact page.

Looks like his facebook page doesn't allow friending or messaging now. The Rephlex facebook page allows messaging, I'll tell him to use that.

Yeah, Grant will basically add anyone if you request it as that's the main place where new releases get posted and stuff now.

too bad grant never really went forward with his tour idea, there are people clamoring all over the united states to host a Rephlex party and yet... nothing. Kind of unfortunate

could just still be in the works. the steinvord myspace page was updated with links to new twitter and soundcloud accounts a month or two ago after all

I don't think it's either one of them. Steinvord is damn good, but he still sounds like he's in development musically. He, or she, is really good with the buildup, but then after the initial crescendo things go downhill fairly steadily (Untitled 9 especially). It goes downhill so far in fact that it sounds like the songs are unfinished in a way, or abandoned too early. I keep finding myself rewinding to the initial buildup when I listen to them. But it's whatever. I should probably buy the ep and support the artist instead of listening to it on youtube. Bleh.

yeah it's more fuel to the samples theory, samples of squarepusher, samples of d'arcangelo...

Except Steinvord was officially released a year and a half earlier than the D'arcangelo record and I believe the Cyg track was one of the originals on the Myspace page... is that right? Which would date it much earlier.
