i think that graphic could easily go along with the whole vhs aesthetic. imo its kinda cool if that's the album cover

anyway i just got into vhs head last year and death dimension is one of my fav tracks ever so i'm really looking forward to this release!

baaaad cover.

recently just gave TROG a relisten - such a treat - hasn't gotten stale at all.

remote control is the standout of course but I think twitch of the nerve is "better"

A release could come on digital video and VHS, and the VHS is hand mangled. That way there is a point to watching the VHS and watching it deteriorate over time as well, but you still have the digital version as well.

One of my favorite labels put this out, 37 minutes including 10 minute exclusive track not on the cassette release:

I'm surprised it isn't more prevalent, VHS players are just easily acquired as cassette tape players, probably more so now. I can hardly find cassette decks or walkmans but VCRs are always around at many thrift stores. You can still get VHS tape pretty easily.

Only drawback I suppose is the time it takes in hand-recording them. In fact, I bet that's why their still rare formats even in the age of tape resurgence.

Didn't OPN put out a VHS release earlier in his career?

Yeah I have a feeling it will grow on me. Assuming it's the actual cover.

Not sure about VHS... you might be thinking of the 'Memory Vague' DVDr on Root Strata?

Ah, probably. My memory was, uh, vague

Well, there's this too, but it's from VHS era, not throwback:

Not sure whether I should post this here, but I think that there's probably (exactly) one promo copy available to be bought. Two copies were released to the public, and I was able to get one of them. Check out the VHS Head facebook page.

I really don't know whether the other copy is still available... it might be a lost cause. I definitely lucked out that watmm was asleep on this one.

Should be here within a week I'd guess. I'll make a post when it arrives and I have a chance to give it a listen. Definitely pumped about the new album; his first three were all really good, not to mention the other miscellaneous tracks that he's put out.

Tracklist

01. Enter The Devil
02. Don't Look In The Closet
03. Gas Human No. 1
04. Mutant Nights
05. Camera Eyes
06. Red Ocean Apocalypse
07. Dead To Morrow
08. Tracking The Moon Beast
09. Frozen
10. Body Magic
11. Farewell Africa
12. Do You Understand
13. _lect_city
14. Jealousy
15. Angels Never Sleep

edit: forgot to check my own thread, this has been out for a bit.

Hope this isn't the cover, it's a bit shit.

As some sort of inlay it could work I guess, it is pretty 80s. But it's actually so 80s that it captures the actual ugliness of the 80s, not the nice retro-warmth of the new-old-80s.

Excuse my triple post - the guy seems to be releasing mini-snippets (1 sec) track by track. There were two little play symbols there this morning, now there's five.

Also he's confirmed via Facebook this image will be the cover art, but will be reversible with the back (lol?)

yeah it looks like it was just badly modeled on the new maya or something... too curvy for an 80s ish polygon model -- but who the fuck ever said VHS head was about the 80s or anything lol
