I really want to like Drexciya more than I do but a lot of Drexciya's tracks have a great idea let down by really static composition. The tracks are impressive and fun on a micro level but sort of undeveloped as tracks. I know it's (probably?) largely a function of composing with the hardware on the fly but it kind of drags everything down a notch.

Please don't hate me watmm.

[uncontroversial: I wish James Stinson was still around to make music, and, you know, just be alive, obviously.]

I also feel this way about a lot of pre-HAB RDJ stuff, including a whole fuckload of I Care Because You Do.

Maybe I just don't actually like electronic music.

There is no proof that either the prophet Mohammed, Buddha or Jesus ever existed.

not really controversial, only truth.

Quite a lot of historical writing on the Buddha and Jesus as people exists. I don't know enough to comment definitively on Mohammed, but I'm gonna hazard a guess and go ahead and say he was an actual, historical figure.

If second or tenth hand sources said Christopher Columbus conjured up spirits to entice the slaves, would he still be a historical figure or we draw our own conclusions based on reality? And he was a real person.

There was probably a guy named Yeshua who was some kind of activist but what you read in the bible was probably based on a few different people plus some embellishment and careful editing at the Council of Nicea to make the story legit for the agenda. There were several more gospels.

Why did supernatural shit from god only happen in a specific part of the world during a specific time period? If people don't keep track of history you can make up anything you want. America will probably do that when there are space colonies.

I'm in the same boat, though I still really enjoy most of the old Aphex stuff despite the repetitiveness. When I first heard ICBYD I'd think "cool idea, but time to take it somewhere new" after a minute of any given track. My patience for repetition in electronic music has since increased substantially.

I am however completely unfamiliar with Drexiya. Is that controversial?

I'm not sure many people would dispute that. i mean, there's various philosophical gems hidden away in all that colorful language and ranting, but most of his writing is centred around criticizing the society and culture around him. It's no wonder he's popular around here.

Uh I never said the bible was the historical record I was referring to.
