People who thought that massive attack was any good in the first place mystify me.

you deaf?

delet hates literally every music group past, present and future, so you should bear that in mind. I for one really like that Teardrops on the Fire song, and was a big fan of 100th Window when it came out. I'm going through their discog this week, just finished off Protection. I like how they've fused Reggae with downtempo electronic/hip hop, and some of the vocal melodies are quite nice. The bass tones are impressive, especially for that era. They've no doubt been influential with their production.

*sorry, none of that was controversial. Um... Soundgarden was and still is a great rock band.

Not sure if you're joking, but this ISN'T the controversial statements thread, right?

Also, Blue Lines is not a Massive Attack album.

Edit: nvmnd ;D

Well, if my memory serves me well, massive attack did release under the massive name for a while due to the first war in iraq. So it wouldnt surprise me if blue lines was released under massive for a bit.

Might still be controversial though. Who knows.

The band never changed their name.

Blue Lines is a bit shit compared to their later releases though.

Controversial statement:

Mad Professor > Lee Perry

백호야~~~항상에 사랑할거예요.나의 아들.

Shout outs to the saracens, musulmen and celestials.

yeah, it's a semantic discussion though. whether or not they changed their name, they did change their artwork...

Collaborative british music production duo from Bristol, UK. During the 1991 Gulf War the group name was shown on some releases as 'Massive' in order to maintain airplay after pressure from the British Government on radio programmers. The group did not actually change their name.

There's nothing semantic about it. ;)

You said - "if memory serves me well, massive attack did release under the massive name for a while"

Facts say - "The group did not actually change their name."

The vinyl labels for some pressings said Massive, but the artwork still featured the Massive Attack name.

God I'm a dick when I'm procrastinating. Sorry goDel!!

Mezzanine is fucking brilliant.

Controversial statement - England will win the World Cup this...oh fuck I can't even say it lol.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was very sexist and the best parts were the parts were you just watched that girl cook eggs for a few minutes

Metallica's best work came after they released the black album.

This the controversial statements thread, not the utter nonsense thread.

The black album was better than all other Metallica albums because this one wasnt actually written by Metallica, but by some drunk homeless who happen to sleep in the studio around that time. He died after finishing the album and could not help on any other album...

This is probably true. But if all the audio files on Loveless didn't get scattered into disarray by whatever outdated computer program they were using (requiring Kevin Shields to piece it all back together imperfectly) it wouldn't have all those horrible phasing issues that make it so hard to listen to. That would potentially give Loveless the edge.

phasing issues? what phasing issues?

"Whoa! Check it out! RO-BIGH-DUHS!"

sigh.. "That's Ribena.."

The ones all over the guitars. It makes my ears pop whenever I hear it on speakers, and it just sounds fucked up through headphones. The new album has a similar sound but without the phasing issues, presumably because Kevin Shields didn't have to nudge everything back into place after his equipment fucked it all up. That's what happened in the final mixing phase (no pun intended) of Loveless.
