I think you're displaying excessive swagger as a new member, and it's unbecoming of you. you don't need to swing your dick in here to be heard or appreciated.

excessive swagger & swinging my dick?

its called rational thought and a clear command of English, chap.

i'm sorry i dint show enough "deference" to my better internet forum elders, Mr/Mrs Usagi,

pls forgive me

nah its just the general subtle attitude i notice from a good slew of members on here... its as if just because some people aren't fans of israel, e.u., democracies or the west in general (all debate aside), suddenly the anti-israel/zionist/jewish attitude in certain comments is shrugged off, and ppl like Chunky who straight up talks shit about jews are actually egged on and silly/playful about it, i see it happening... shit i remember not too long ago that thread that turned into something about how actual israeli citizens were the worst people on the face of the earth type racist shit and many ppl just turned the other cheek or even agreed, after i tried standing against that sentiment.

then the moment i use the word "barbarism" when bringing up the concept of barbaric societal elements of Arab countries and their regimes' use of suppression in a thread regarding a terror attack, in an intelligent respectful manner, im called a racist by people like JE, and no one seems to think that's out of line.

however, in the united states, we support the rights of racist hate groups like the ku klux klan and westboro baptist church to voice their opinions and even publicly protest, because our bill of rights does not allow the government to interfere with speech unless the speech specifically causes an immediate danger (like yelling "fire" in a movie theater) or threatens direct harm.

I liked what you had to say here, but the only clarification I will make and I think it's important for the subject of the thread is that if you are muslim and have have 'radical' views you are not allowed to say the same things as a non muslim white person with the same legal protection. Maybe that sounds ridiculous and hyperbolic, but it's actually true post 9/11. If i started making youtube videos saying why I think it's justified and righteous that American soldiers are dying in the middle east, and maybe even expressing excitement and pleasure over it I can guarantee you that I would probably be able to get away with it (legally speaking) for my entire life. Try being a muslim person inside the united states making youtube videos like that, you'd get an FBI visit to your house (at the very least) very fucking fast. I think its an important point to bring up, because yes while many people would universally find such views disgusting and abhorrent (like they do the views of the KKK), the views of the KKK are legally protected, the views of radical muslims are not.

another and slightly less comparable example, a 13 year old kid downloading the anarchist cookbook or army explosive field manual off the internet out of youthful curiosity. Who will be more legally protected in this situation in the post Patriot Act era, a muslim american who has family ties to Yemen or a white kid?

lol every arrogant newbie says this. understand, it's not about commanding respect, it's about getting along. look at the tone of your posts and those of the people you're speaking to. it's clearly heaps more abrasive, that's all I'm pointing out. you can choose to continue that way but be prepared to be RTR'd up the bum.

yes, i agree with you on this point. also, local officials like the police are sometimes misinformed on what freedom of speech means, so they feel like it's ok to arrest or terrorize people for flicking them off or saying fuck the police. so, there are abuses that come with our system of legal regulation of speech, as well.

"heaps more abrasive"

hmmmm, oh dear, i've upset someone with over 10,000 posts.

let me reiterate for you, in plain English:

my swinging dick point is that the "reality" on the ground in France is very different to any US-based perspective on US-constitutional law/minority hate-groups & their access to power.

Antisemitic attacks ARE on the rise and Mr D is always pushing & provoking these actions.

Was that too abrasive?

Why are you being so hostile?

Usagi is a good guy and generally respected around here. Why use terms like "in plain english" or your snarky second line there?

It's completely unnecessary.

politics can get people upset, it's a pretty common thing. When i was growing up the italian side of my family would spend half of xmas and thanksgiving dinners in heated screaming political arguments

because i got called out for being "arrogant", which isnt the case at all, unless you consider articulate, straight-talking a problem?

or is this a big circle-jerk bonanza?

I will partially rebuke part of my jumping in on this as a way to make my statement, @cwm, StephenG is only being treal in the sense that were all pretty toned down in here in general & we all make efforts to try not to bring anger out in typing, no one means any kind of attack or anything and frankly i agree with your posts & i dont think youre out of line at all, theyre just laying down the watmm culture of chillness (: Edited by Lane Visitor

Don't you see the irony on discussing politics/de-escalating tense situations etc.... De-escalate man. It's all good. We're all friendly here. Most of the time lol.

nope, the original point in this section was that folks believe that a hate-crime inducing cunt should be allowed to continue as 1

i disagree

ok,,,,another example

have you read around the recent conviction of a certain Abu-Hamza al-Masri?

he was a "preacher" at London's Finsbury Park mosque, where various members of the Paris attacks attended and where people with direct links to attacks on the US have attended, directly as part of Hamza's entourage & various other hate-clerics.

Mr Hamza came out with all kinds of "rhetoric", but the actions he called for/condoned have all played out in various other countries and innocent people have died as a consequence.

Should he have been allowed to act/preach as he did or was his recent trial & conviction in the US legitimate?

Where do you draw the line?
