Cain's death is not surprising but it's surreal and tragically poetic. His run in 2012 feels like a lifetime ago, it was so absurd it prompted Tim Heidecker to release a tribute album out of morbid obsession and bafflement. This is the man who plagiarized a speech from a Pokemon movie in his closing remarks. This is the guy who sincerely stated he wouldn't pass a legislative bill longer than 9 pages. 

He also set the stage for the kind of naive "no one will take this seriously, what a boob" attitude that the media held with Trump. One that his far less effective critics maintain. I don't think he was remotely as sinister or corrupt as Trump or most GOP wing nuts of late but he was still a Tea Party darling along with Palin and Cruz and [insert any random assclown here] and these bastards are the ones who prepped the GOP for it's full unmasking under Trump. And now a Tea Party superstar has literally died from a disease spread at a Trump rally he attended, a rally in an arena so undersold that he could have even gone and socially distanced at. Instead he danced and shook hands and interacted with peers mask off and everything. The Trump era Republican base is literally a death cult at this point. 

He died to watch Trump drink from  a bottle with two hands. That is fucking funny.

correct. in fact, the official statement from his camp was:

a. that he got the virus from the tulsa rally, which is just a twitter lib feverdream

b. that he died "because the virus affects black and brown people disproportionately." this is true in so much as those groups tend to be poorer, have less access to quality healthcare, and have more preexisting co-morbidities because to the former two issues. Herman Cain, while black, was a successful businessman worth several millions who definitely had access to healthcare, him being black is immaterial in this case. why are people saying this??
