I know stuff like this is usually a cash-in, but how lush would it be to have a series of deluxe editions for all of Richard's releases, including a second disc filled with gems from that particular era (taken from the dump) and a booklet with some tasty imagery/literature.

I'm thinking of something along the lines of what Led Zeppelin's been doing recently with their discography, or what Pink Floyd did a few years back with the Experience/Immersion box sets, but with alternative artwork that's based on the original, similar to what Universal did with their 2014 Blu-ray re-releases. (click spoiler)

Going off the subject a bit, it's going to be interesting say 30 years from now when CDs are (probably) a thing of the past, and unless another physical format replaces it (unlikely), all these digital compositions, unless archived somewhere, will cease to exist when their delivery mechanisms potentially cease to exist. Think of all the digital items you currently have that there is no physical backup or additional copy exists - Sure, right now you can download them again from Bleep or iTunes, but what about the day those services aren't around anymore?

Vinyl!!!

I'd rather keep the dump as a gift and not contrive some way to throw money at it. It would take a lot for me to reconsider, maybe if something like what auxien described would happen down the road (i.e., a proper re-release of some fan favourites, working from the tapes or exact copies and not from the MP3s), but I don't think it will, because I'd guess the point of all this in the first place was to share a bunch of unheard music without all the hassle of releasing it in the traditional way.

Is a hard drive any less physical than a record? They can both be irreparably damaged, they both wear with time, they are both copies of data existing as physical objects, and between them, there's one that can be copied onto itself, and one that can only be copied onto the other...

  2. No (35 votes [16.91%])

  3. Depends (provide reasoning) (29 votes [14.01%])

it was not as successful with caustic window except that, yes, the 155 tracks, we know them since they have been streaming on soundcloud...

and the 35 who voted no, I'm sure they will release their portfolio if the project is maintained...

lol why are you asking me "please"? We all have the right to express ourselves and to say our thoughts... in a pinch, you would not have written "Anchio pls" I would not have reacted... :spiteful:

I'd pay for a mastered collection of lossless files

especially if aphex decided the order and set the titles as he wanted them

"Whoa! Check it out! RO-BIGH-DUHS!"

sigh.. "That's Ribena.."

i think the point of "fly away babies good luck" meant that this tracks are on their own now. they are grown up and can have their own decisions. richard is not the papa that looks and cares for them anymore.

do "ze best of dump" or release them anyhow if you wish, do your own tapes or CDs, deleted some dumb ones and keep only the best for you, do what whatever, he gave away that tracks for free and he doesnt care

remember that interview when he said his friends would make an albums out of his tracks?

we are all his friends now, he just gave us the tracks

i wont pay a penny for this right now, i have them on player, pc, cds, psp, ordered what i like etc

maybe sometime ill change my mind

but now it's just some mp3's my friend gave me to listen and enjoy

thank you, friend

edit*: but i see what Joyrex is trying to do here, its a absolutely different thing for collectors, and I respect it very much, it's just not for me at the moment, i didnt even collected all official releases, so i'm out

Your post made me change my mind.

Richard is done with these tracks.

Syro was the palate cleanser, SoundCloud dump has wiped the slate clean. CCAI2 is the start of the next phase and I'm sure he won't want to revisit this old stuff again.

The fans waited a long time for new music, and he has delivered overwhelmingly with old music and will now (hopefully) can concentrate on the new stuff.

Let it go, let it go

Pretty sure the Soundcloud titles are the titles he intended to give tho :emotawesomepm9:

A choice between several 12" with similar era tracks (e.g. AB6, or the beatless ambient tracks, or the RDJ album alt takes, or whatever) could allow the die-hard fan to get everything on physical format and the casual fan could only get the tracks he'd want. Of course every 12" should have its artwork etc. Don't know if that's possible to do though, I guess that would be a huge deal to sell various 12"...

But it would be awesome :music:

oh yeh. i don't really want a physical release. i'm perfectly happy with digitals.

buuut. knowing my habits... if it was pressed to vinyl and mastered and whatnot then yeah, i'd probably cough up the money and buy it !
