I keep listening to Rayc Fire and I'm loving it. I see where everyone is coming from, and it's not "punchy" at all, it's loud in weird places, soft in others, you can hear a faint amen in places... it's weird and I can understand why the lot of you aren't enjoying it... But I think it's banging. Stor Eiglass (if that radio track really is it) was ill, and if the whole album sounds like these tracks, I'm going to be a very happy Squarepusher fan.

Yeah that faint amen at a really sedate pace is great, really ties the room track together

Dont Panic! Although most of you now 4 of the album tracks ( story glass = stor eiglass indeed ) , running man is in there too, but also the epic stadium ice / angel integre sequel that he played in late ufabulum shows as an opener.

The other 4 Tracks are pure pusher bliss ( 2 of them have incredible fast jazz scale melody lines which are incredible fun, overall it is far more organic and freeform than ufabulum )

Ergo it is not Ufabulum 2.0! Its a wonderful showcase of the costum reaktor patches he accumulated over the decade. He used them exclusively on this record. Epic wagnerian steinbolt pads, spacey plotinos synth chord progressions, and the wonderful 303 squelchy acid software emulation he used in one of those unreleased warp 20 joints! The mastering is superb, and more balanced, less emphasis on high frequencies.

Dont worry guys, it is great!

Remember the goosebump enducing polyphonic glitch meltdown in tundra 4, the synthesized drums in the warp 20 opening track. It is all there! But he added a shitload of new patches and the old ones are sounding better than ever.

*i meant synthesized drums "of" ( not in ) the warp 20 opening track. Not be mistaken for the ultravisitor outtake "abacus 1" ( warp 20 opener ) that is obviously not on damogen. Toms answer to aphex analog gear fetishism. "Anti-Syro" in terms of production.

Yes thats the one! The mixing is "spot on" on the actual recording, the details and the emotional resonance created by the ghostly pads ( The underlying pad chords are lost in the bootleg live recording ) is quiet a special achievement regarding his recent "pop" efforts.

Hardest part now will be not overplaying Story Glass (btw where does that name come from ?) and Running Man I guess.

Can't wait to hear those on vinyl !!!

Both profit enormously from the final mastering. One can hear new details or even elements ( especially in running man ) that have no real sonic presence in the radio "demo".

I am sorry can not help you on this one. But imho i am baffled by the cult following these sketchy throw away tunes have. Yes they are somehow enjoyable but after the 4th listening they lose their appeal quiet heavily, at least for me.

I was hoping you would say that.

I really enjoyed those 2 radio one tracks, especially the Running Man track, but the radio demo sounded really compressed and a bit flat. Am I to understand that, with how you've commented on a final mastering, that they are both on the album then?

Yes they are! Story Glass is the opener. Running Man Track 7

:happy::beer:

Edit: that allays some of my fear that the rest of the tracks would be like Rayc Fire 2....
