I like it too! great track. not taking himself very seriously on that track; I like that.

"erupting into an ecstatic reworking of the Cure's Just Like Heaven" --haha, that was the first thing that sprung to my mind as well when I first heard Stor Eiglass. Like "hey, this sounds like Tom doing a Cure cover." Not even joking! It's funny that the first review of DF I read mentions that too.

its the sounds dude, i think im not the only one who has it made it known several times that everything about it is pretty top tier except for his sound choices (which are imo poor) . The bass line synth style reminds me too much of modern EDM, albeit granted it has a slightly unique grittier/custom made quality it still evokes the trailer for Spring Breakers

 

That was my impression as well when listening to it the first time. I have to give it a few more listens though.

i can't argue with that, except it's still the EDM scene. Conceptually its kinda like tearing the Progressive Trance or Happy Harcdore scene a new asshole and doing a bunch of other sexual and violent things to it but worse(?)

this un sounds really fucking good

I think this album is really great! very cohesive and with one banger after another. my least favorite track is probably the opener, and even Rayc Fire, which I kinda hated at first, works if you're in the right mindset (ie. after 3 cups of coffee).

I like listening to it on vinyl, but I prefer the CD tracklisting. it's better paced that way, I find.

overall: great job, Tom!

tom nailed the miles davis meets techno thing. this is old school jazz but with home-made, cutting edge digital synths.

It's really fuckin pretentious, but I still like it. First Squarepusher album I've ever had a few proper listens to.

It's definitely his first good album since Hello Everything. All the others in between have been poo.

i ever like this fantastic & energetic album

After a few more listens I have to admit that this might be quite a perfect Squarepusher album. There are some too pompous parts which sound like he has listened to Glam Rock lately. But apart from that it's great.

Damn. I like this.

fuck. he won me back. The least hyped I've ever been for a Squarepusher album but this kills everything he has done in the last... 10 years? Yaaay.
