Mutant standard is next level. Perhaps the best piece of electronic music I've heard since Mt Saint Michel

Daniel Lopatin listening to OPN alone one day:

"Wouldn't it be cool if some one made a video of Val Kilmer listening to this shit?"

*shoots out a couple emails*

Iiiinteresting.

Not as memorable as certain other OPN videos (Sticky Drama, Boring Angel, Problem Areas, that NSFW one for R+7), but it made me dive into OPN's music again so mission accomplished.

Val Kilmer gets the call asking him to do this. He stares theough the window out over the palm trees. "Wait, wasn't I batman once?"

"Hello, Val? Are you there?"

Val [to himself]: "yeah, I was literally batman in the 90s. Fucking batman. Wtf happened to me?"

"Yeah, tell Daniel I'll do it."

val is a serious genius

Isn't he a member of MENSA (lol, I always smile to myself when I read the word "mensa" as it means quite the opposite in Spanish)

lol, alco redeems this pretentious mess of a video. Too bad, this was my favorite track from last year, was pumped when I heard Kilmer was involved. But wtf, this is pretentious, boring, and as a video editor LAZY

yeah. i used to fuck around with video editing software and make OPN vids abit couple years back, mostly just for fun. can definitely vouch for OPNs music being super evocative and owing itself to visuals very seamlessly.

this just seems like an idea that popped into someone's head and they went ahead and did it. but man does it make for a boring 4 minutes. the glitchy editing doesn't do much to inspire either, especially as it's generally just done in a 1to1 fashion directly with the vocals glitching out. i dunno. arts art. arts fine. but agreeing that it was pretty boring lol

Pretty sure 90% of Rick Alverson's stage directions are:

The sad middle aged white man sat and looked distant.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

director walks in: "Ok Val, if you could jus..."

sees Val Kilmer just sitting there being himself, thinking about Batman.

Director: "action!"

how much $$$ did this cost :psyduck:

Val Kilmer on the phone to his mom: "yeah just got home. It was pretty good. It was art."

His mom: "honey I'm so proud of you."

My mate played him as a child in the beginning of the film. We were at his house stoned when he randomly said to watch it and it didn't click at all, until he left the room and came back in wearing a child's jacket with The Saint written across the back. He got to meet Val and Cindy Crawford who he was dating at the time, considering the podgy toad was on the horizon she definitely dodged a bullet there.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

Ditto and ditto. Had the CD single (was actually the first Orbital thing I ever bought) and never saw (or intended to see) the film
