The thing with Tulsi was that from the beginning she had the typical “don’t trust the system, but i am different and have the answers” story to sell. Any politician who starts going off like that, is selling snake oil. They’re populists echoing the frustrations of a lot of people. The question is why though.
Most populists seem to have some entrepreneurial streak to them. It’s their way of making money. They’re grifting. Some of them still care about the democracy. Some want to smash the democracy. I think Tulsi still cares. Perhaps naively. Trump on the other hand doesn’t care about the democracy at all.

on a side note: I’m afraid Trump is going to win this time. The media seems so desperately trying to tell us Trump is bad. As if they believe he is winning. I’m guessing they’re on to something. It’s silly how close the polls are. Please tell me i’m wrong!

I don't trust the polls at all.  Putting aside all the usual ways that polling can be wrong, neither side and their respective lackey news organizations have any incentive to say that they're ahead in the polls because that would probably decrease voter turnout for that side.  The best way they can get max turnout is by saying, "OMG it's neck and neck; get out there and vote!"

i don't have tons of faith in the polls. i watched this economist vlogger/reporter for bloomberg interview a bunch of data people and people who do polls on all kinds of things. basically, they all said they people don't respond to polls the way they used to. people don't answer their phones when they don't recognize the number.. so, certain types of polling are just completely ineffective at gathering data. economic data specifically. 

that being said.. yeah. the vibe is leaning towards trump and all the idiots.. but i think when people get in the voting booth anything can happen.  america is pretty sexist and racist in a lot of ways and i think a lot of men will get in the booth and not vote for the black woman. and all those people in michigan who are trying to take the win from harris over palestine might be successful. 

the dirty tricks are in play with help from enron musk.  this will be super close and trump campaign is already filing lawsuits and hoping the results come slowly so they have time to rile up the idiots who can go storm voting centers while votes are being counted.. that's kinda their plan. already saying if they don't know who won the day after election day that they will all go bananas and claim it's fixed. 

i think some people might get shot this time. there might be jan 6 vibes in different cities because of mail in voting taking a longer time to be tabulated. 

but overall this thing will be decided by a few thousand votes here and there so it's all up in the air.  people are illogical and uninformed and totally bite on all the culture war shit and get yoked around by their emotions and don't make rational choices.

This may be naive but I have faith that enough people will come out to vote against Trump.  IMO, he only won in 2016 because tons of people (including me) thought that Hillary had it in the bag and just didn't show up.

There was a much bigger mobilization of voters in 2020 and I think we'll see that again.  One good thing to take from 2020 is that in the only election so far where the country knew that Trump could actually be elected, he lost.  Hopefully that occurs again.

i hear ya.. it's all anecdotal though. there's tons of interviews where people say that kind of thing about trump and said the same in 2016. hillary lost because she ignored working class voters in michigan and wisonsin because dems have taken them for granted for so long.. and they didn't listen to or speak to the concerns of those people.. and also a bunch of racist chuds came out of the wood work to vote for trump.. it's complex and there's more reasons than just that.. she still had 3 million more votes than trump but lost because electoral college blows. 

i'm one of those people who would vote for biden over trump even if biden was in a coma on life support. but there's so many idiots out there who just don't know shit and vote on their emotions and there's plenty of interviews of middle age/young working class people who dont even know how to speak about things but will vote for trump.. they shit like  "it seemed the economy was going up under trump but now everything is going down. we were better when he was in office".  it's the same old story. clueless people who are uninformed and get yoked around by various narratives to vote against their own self interests.  "how do you feel about Obamacare" - oh it's terrible.. we should repeal it!  "how do you feel about the Affordable Care Act" - oh it's amazing and literally saved my life. it's the best thing ever....   [reporter looks w/1000 yard stare into camera before telling the person those are that the ACA and obamacare are the same thing]. 

but whatever.. it's still going to come down to a few states and few thousand votes... and you can bet a lot of people who not vote for the black woman and won't say shit about it... they'll go into the voting booth and sabotage themselves. 

on the flip side there are a lot of people excited to vote for her but we'll see how that goes and if it's enough. i'd love a landslide victory defeat of trump to embarrass him and all the chuds but it ain't gonna happen.

wishful thinking time. even if he does win, there's no guarantee he's going to remain in office for the entire 4 year term. this time around there may be enough anti-trump sentiment in the R party that they'd actually entertain the idea of removing him from office, should he win. that pressure may come from the legal stuff hanging over him. more guilty verdicts may be enough to get him to resign - as long as he gets a lifetime get out of jail card. or there could be some play here that if trump fucks up enough right after entering office, an actual push to enact the 25th amendment gathers legit steam. he is textbook material for "unable to discharge powers and duties of office," but that kept getting written off last time by Pence and the other elder statesmen, who are no longer on his side thanks to Jan. 6th. like if trump tries to deploy the military to round up brown people, nuke Iran, or any of the other 10,000 crazy ideas he's spit out recently, it may be enough to finally cut the head off the snake.

this scenario of course would also depend on the R party's constituents and their willingness to let go of the maga savior. I have a theory that a lot of people voting for him really don't want him to be elected, don't like him at all, but are too stuck in the anti-dem mindset to ever vote D. they want someone else other than trump, and would love to be voting for some other R person. someone not full throttle maga, who can come and go from that insane world as needed, and then come back and speak normal talk to the adults in the room when the time is right. someone like JD Vance. I can certainly see a scenario where trump goes further off the rails, and the R's figure out a way to replace him/get him to step down before his term is up with Vance. 

or he loses, and we don't have to deal with this disastrous trump nightmare next time we head to the polls.
