RIP to WATMM Discussion thread

WTF I was thinking to myself this morning that the forum won’t be here forever…

this is a huge bummer (though admittedly I do feel like I need to spend increasingly less time online every year, and that includes wattm, but you guys are very hard to quit). what I don't quite get is JR's reluctance to pass the site off to someone who would run it with care and attention to its history and culture. it's a community, not a dying old car. here's hoping he'll reconsider passing the reigns rather than just letting such a great place disappear...

This is extremely sad news.

I'm sure there is a way to keep it alive

joking aside I will miss this site, only place left on the net where I can openly express my opinion and get a meaningful response and share my music taste and also learn of other good music, art, and ideas from people across the globe

Like the whole AAA thing, Ambient thread with loads of good ambient recommendations. All the recommendation threads really.

No way! This came out of the blue. Everything has to come to an end I guess but I still wish it wasn't now. I did notice q drop of activity in the new releases section. Still sad though, I really don't know where else to go. WATMM is such a nice bubble with its own references etc. It was a cosy community even if the lot of you are grumpy old bastards lol.

I lurk more than I post, here, but:

There are barely any websites I'm emotionally attached to and WATMM is one of them- a WATMM browse every couple of days has been part of my life since I was maybe 16/17; now in my 30s and I'll be truly sad to see it go. I'd love at the very least to see it archived somehow, and would be happy to chip in towards any related expenses.

Fond memories of rolling lols, the Wrong MS Paint Thread, and the little serotonin bump I get when someone's updated the Dank Memes Thread, which is iconic at this point.

Loved deep-diving people's AE album takes, the AAA thread, and learnt loads from the various production/gear threads in EKT and Featured Artists...

Agree with the sentiment that Reddit, etc., are no substitute- 'watmm culture', for want of a better word, is unique.

Huge thanks to Joyrex and the mods for keeping the site rolling all these years, it's been magic.

guys - and i'm being 100% serious here - i might kill myself if i have to read boomkat copy for new releases

@Joyrex Why u talking about the Artists not releasing stuff? Ae is hotter than ever and Aphex releasing also.. The conversations are going strong. 

If u are tired and stuff that is fine but don't mess it up with this "artists not doing their job" that's just silly man
