that was me, lol. I made that thread while pretty drunk one day and I never did like it, so I killed the whole thing when I saw it again yesterday. guess I wanted to see how it felt to be joyrex for a moment. it was pretty underwhelming

I'm very sorry and sad that watmm will be shutting it's doors, but I completely understand. I've been here since day 1 Joyrex.com days. Although I haven't been active here for the past decade, I occasionally pop in to catch up. I've met many great people and discovered many artists and labels through this platform. Had many lols here as well. I personally think that this site was more than just a place to discuss the featured artists.

To @Joyrex, Thank you for everything. You kept this place going for so long, probably longer than you wanted. We have many memories here that I will never forget. Best of luck to you and your future endeavors.

If anyone is wondering what that eldritch stench is emanating from the overused chemical toilet that is the Lifetime Members Forum, it's Plum.  16 years ago he got in touch with me to tell me how he had discovered a secret forum on watmm.  At how genuinely upset he was that the people on here who he had thought of as his real friends were secretly hanging out in a place for the cool kids and he had been excluded.  How he was too afraid to say anything as there was what JoePecs (secretive LTM forum admin alias) called the 'hannibal directive' in place which would result in immediate bans for anyone that revealed its existence. 

"Hey kaka, you have to do something, you're the only non LTM member that has some clout with Joyrex, you're like a son to him, he'll listen to you, you'll be ok, you can use one of your many dupes if you get banned."

 And so I tried.  For the next 2 years I dedicated my life to bringing this whole charade down.  And at the end when I had finally broken through, reached the inner sanctum and my hand was on the delete button, what did I find?  Plum, sitting there like a corpulent Linda Blair, giggling behind the cool kids.  I had been played.  It was all Plum.  It had always been Plum.  LTM, LTM Extra, LTM Elite, LTM Black, they were all his ideas.  He was the real power behind the throne, masquerading as the court jester, a tale as old as any arbitrary hierarchical social system.

I broke down sobbing, was any of this real?  Did Boards of Canada really create the worst electronic music album of all time just 3 years after the release of Geogaddi?  In the maelstrom of my conflicting emotions I hesitated, and that was all he needed.  A plummy, haughty voice rose from the screeching cacophony of the LTM hyenas.  "Joyrex, do me a favour old bean, I think we've all had our fun... now ban him."

The lights went out instantly.  But they had made a fatal error.  I had got them.  The photos of Joyrex swimming with dolphins.  So an uneasy truce was declared.  Do not share the photos and you can have your account back. 

I loved you.  I loved you Plum.  But a reckoning is coming.  And I still have the photos.

One question I've been thinking of ... when Joyrex turns off the forum, will he be willing to put up a holding page saying "WATMM no longer exists but most forum members have gone to [link to new forum]" or somesuch .... that will be important to direct the occasional lurkers to the new site

No he's not willing to do that, but he will be visiting us all at our individual homes to personally kick us in the ballsack/labia as a final parting gift

What would be great is a hommage webpage displaying all posts ever written on the board. Even better if they are organized in "topics" and regrouped in what could be called "subforum"

(currently going through a stage of denial in my grieving of WATMM sry)

Yes Usagi, I must admit there are some elements of truth in which he speaks, for example: Joyrex and his ungodly blowhole fixation, Boards of Canada and that terrible album etc.

I guess now that WATMM’s days are officially numbered, the truth can finally be told… The LTM forum was just a ruse to stop Kakapo’s self-indulgent stranglehold on general banter.  

Joyrex was being inundated daily with requests for Kakapo to be banned, something like 87% of the forum membership circa 2007 wanted him gone, the remaining 13% were mostly Kakapo dupe accounts (and even some of those were on the turn).

Obviously Joyrex was in a tricky position given those extremely sensitive SeaWorld photos. Kakapo had him over a dolphin shaped barrel (literally in some of the photos). He wouldn’t go quietly, so a plan was hatched, we needed a distraction. Something to keep Kakapo’s bitter little brain preoccupied, something that would really get under his oily skin and twist up his gizzards. 

Once carefully planted whispers of a secret WATMM illuminati found Kakapo’s ear, it did its intended job beautifully. Kakapo disappeared for two years (he was tirelessly working on the infamous Downfall post).

General banter was bliss for a while, the lols did roll flawlessly (all in lowercase). Unfortunately, the harmony was to be short lived, another tyrant saw an opportunity and quickly filled the void, and so the Iain-C shit-posting era had begun. Dark times.
